  • [Question] Does anyone prefer the new Matterhorn bobsleds?

I haven't had the opportunity to ride the new bobsleds myself, but does anyone prefer the new sleds to the old ones?

I appreciate them for the indivdual seating aspect and the oppurtunity for SR, but I do not like the fact that they aren't padded like the old ones. But anyways, I do like the new ones a little bit more imo.

I did. I'm 47, 6' and 210 lbs and I had enough room. I didn't feel like I got jerked around as much. Also didn't quite feel as squished when I have one of my daughters riding with me. Overall it was a better experience for me.

I am not happy with the new sleds all that much. Very cramped with no leg room. The only comfort I got was sitting in the front seat of the sled. At least there I was able to move my legs a bit and felt there was some space. I personally would not suggest this to anyone anymore if they are tall like me.

          No, no, no and NO!
No padding. Instead of having you legs stretched out in front of you, you place them in sockets to left and right of you at an upright angle placing all your body weight on your tailbone. It was excruciating for me. One woman coming off the sleds on Thursday likened it to an obstetrics table.

If you had more room in the front seat than in either of the back two, you must have not been using the foot holes...

I prefer the new seat belts and aesthetic of the new bobsleds. The foot cubbies do require some negotiation, but I attribute it to my own unfamiliarity with the new sled and not a design fault.

However, I do miss the rough ride of the original sleds. I don't know if it's just me but I didn't get jerked around roughly until we hit a sudden turn.

I sat in the back, and to me it seemed more like sitting on the floor rather that in a seat. It was difficult to get in and out of. Also, it seems rougher than before. I agree that there should be some padding added.

Oh I was. I didn't like those as it made me feel like I was even more locked in. At least the front seats don't have those foot holes and therefore make it easier. Not only to get in and out but also with comfort. I have really long legs and I too was sitting on my tailbone the entire time and had no fun.

Can't say im a fan of the new sleds, while the ride is smoother I find it harder to get out.

I thought the new sleds gave a smoother ride. I think it may feel 'bumpier' for some because of the lack of padding.

This is the only reason I prefer the old sleds. :x

                              Leg room is everything.

It's gone now so if you don't mind being a human accordion, the new sleds are for you.

All I want to know is do someone know why padding wasnt included in the news sleds? I mean I dont get it, it seems about as common sense as adding the seatbelts ESPECIALLY with it being so bumpy in the first place. If this was Space Mountain or Screamin, ok! But the bumpiest attraction in the resort and no padding? Who tested this thing and thought it felt fine? I rode it once and was praying for death by the time it ended!

I love everything about them except the riding position/lack of padding. The way you sit has your legs level to your butt, putting all your weight on the relatively tiny area of your tail bone. The sleds are a lot smoother but unfortunately you feel the slightest bump a million times more. They really need some better padding...or a higher seat.

Personally, I like the new sleds better. There's not as much room for your legs and whole body for that matter to slide around everywhere because you have so much open space if you don't lap sit. I also like the handles on the top of the head rest of the seat in front of you. I do however wish that there was soft padding where your knees rest on the insides of the car.

Re: Does anyone prefer the new Matterhorn bobsleds?

I rode both sides twice on Sunday and I like the new sleds. I am 6' 250lbs and I fit in fine, but it does take some effert to get in and out. I had the middle and end seat each time. There IS paddding right where your knees hit the edge of the sled. The Fantasyland side is smooth and there are not that many bumps. The TL side is bumpy, rough and you will be knocked around a bit.
By the way, I used the single rider line and had no wait whatsoever, so I rode 4 times in a row. I would say if you are in good medical heatlh and get a little exercise now and then, you will be fine. But if you are out of shape, and have trouble moving and bending your arms and legs, stay away!

I fit fine and quite honestly, was more cramped for leg space on Space Mountain's front seats. My issues...far tougher on my rear end and really felt slower and rougher than before. My wife and daughters said the same thing unsolicited.

Saw a few people getting off looking like they were in a bit of discomfort (rubbing their rear, arms hurting, etc.). Overall, while the sleds look cool it's not an improvement in my book.
