  • Trip Report Joe's 2nd trip to Cars Land - with photos of course

Well Cars Land has been open for a week and we've only gone once. On Saturday, Jacob joined Theresa and I to go visit Cars Land again!

Jacob hasn't activated his pass yet, so he got to the park early. Really early. Like before the park opened at 8am.

Because of that, he got to see the crowd that was all lined up to go into the new land.

And it was quite a crowd.

Theresa and I rolled up around 8:45am.

We met Jacob, grabbed a scrambled egg, cheese and bacon cone for breakfast, then jumped into the single rider line for Radiator Springs Racers. The normal wait time was 180 minutes.

After only 45 minutes we were at the front of the line. It just so happened that Theresa and I got put into the same car in different rows. And Jacob happened to be in the car right behind us.

That also meant that we raced against his car at the end of the ride.

Theresa, who normally gets pretty motion sick, had fun and only got a small headache.

Theresa's hair was pretty wind-swept after coming off the ride.

Us and Stanley welcome you to Radiator Springs.

We decided to run over to Disneyland since the MouseWait app said that it was pretty empty.

For a treat, we decided stop by the Jolly Holiday bakery.

    The Matterhorn Macaroon was excellent!

Disneyland wait times were great! On a Saturday in the middle of June, it's one of the least crowded we've seen.

Because of that we decided to go on rides that we wouldn't normal get on.

Jacob and I jumped on the Tea Cups while Theresa took photos. If there's anything that would make her sick, Tea Cups would definitely be it.

One of the best parts of taking photos on the teacups?

    Photos like this one.

We also jumped on the Storybook Circus boat rides.

Theresa made a friend and learned all about the stuff we were seeing along the ride.

Buzz Lightyear is a favorite. And with a 5 minute wait, who can resist.

Whenever Theresa wins, I blame the gun. Mine was obviously malfunctioning.

Earlier we had grabbed fastpasses for Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

Then it was time to head back to California Adventure for lunch.

We started with dessert. Hooray for the free chocolate squares at the new Ghirardelli chocolate shop.

Then we grabbed a Chili Cone Carne served in an edible cone and jumped in the single rider line for Radiator Springs Racers.

Only 30 minutes later, we were at the front of the line. The regular line showed a 120 minutes wait.

And again, Theresa and I got put in the same car!

    We almost run into Mack.

    We see Minny and Van.

The Sheriff comes out and warns up about speeding.

We do some tractor tipping then have to speed away from Frank.

The Hudson Hornet says it's time to race.

    And we're off.

Red comes out and visits. He even squirts people with water

And to celebrate Red, I try Red's Apple Freeze. A frozen apple juice drink with toasted marshmallow topping. I thought it was interesting, but Theresa and Jacob didn't like it at all.

The Little Mermaid ride was a walk-on.

The we walked on to Monsters Inc.

Back to Disneyland to listen to the Voices of Liberty. Last Saturday, we went to the 2pm showing. We went to the same 2pm showing this week and the show was exactly same. Does anyone know if they sing different songs, or is it the same ones at every show?

They were good, but next time, we'll sit closer to the front.

Jacob and I had grabbed fastpasses for Star Tours.

I've been on this new version probably 6 times and 5 of those times, we visited Hoth. This time.... yep, Hoth again.

There's some cool art in downtown Disney.

Then we went to the new Lego store. I love all the Disney characters made from Lego.

We love the great Lego statues out front now.

A great Beauty and the Beast statue.

I came away inspired. I did a flat 2D Lego Mosaic already, but maybe it's time to venture out into 3D...

More details about how I made the Lego Mickey Mouse Mosaic can be found
here or in the link in my signature.

What is the undocumented beverage in this picture?
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

That would be a Ramone's Pear of Dice Soda. I thought it was great!

I've been asking for light ice on all of these new drinks though. My first time trying the Grape Tonic and Natural Lemonade, I was finished with the drink, but the cup was still over 1/2 full of ice.

A 10 minute wait for Splash Mountain during the summer? So everyone is gathering at Carsland while the rest of the park and Disneyland are almost empty. Excuse me while I go convince my family to go next weekend instead of waiting until October when the crowds die down.

what day of the week was this trip on? And I remember seeing that hat at Walt Disney World, at the Boardwalk hotel gift shop on the Boardwalk. It was clearanced and I remember trying it on and almost buying it but thought... no one would wear it and why would someone wear it... but now that Carsland is here you wearing it in Carsland just makes sense.

And I can't believe the ride operators put the little girl in the backseat in the middle. Wonder if she was able to see anything! PLUS super handsome guys in the front row!

Now is definitely the time to visit Disneyland. The crowds are the best I've seen it in recent memory. I'm not sure how it is during the week, but the two Saturdays that we've visited were great. We were walking through Adventureland, a place known for always being crowded, and it was empty during the middle of the day! A line only 2 people deep for Dole Whips!

This was on Saturday, June 23rd.
I remember when I bought it, they sold it near Autopia at WDW. I also saw it a couple years ago in the stores at DL, but it didn't last very long. I'm glad I finally have a land I can wear it in and not get crazy looks.

I didn't even notice that poor girl in the back row in the middle. That's unfortunate.

Did it really taste like pear? Pear, to me, has such a mild flavor, I worry that the syrup content to make it taste like anything will make it out of control sweet. I love actual pears, and Juicy Pear Jelly Bellys, so I may need to just give in and try it! I think a round of "Drinking around the Springs!" is in order.

Also, I ask for "no ice" everywhere I go. McDonald's, Starbucks, Flo's. I'm NOT paying $4 for ice.

Hmm, did it taste like pear? It's hard to say since, you're right, pear is a mild flavor. It tasted like Sprite with sweetness added to it and maybe a little bit of pear. Either way though, I thought it was tasty. My favorite so far though has been Doc Hudson's Grape Tonic.
I think the "Drinking around the Springs" is a great idea! So far I've tried the Pair of Dice Soda, Filmore's Natural Lemonade, Red's Apple Freeze, and Doc Hudson's Grape Tonic. I'll be adding to that when I go back this Friday!
