  • [Question] Halloween

Hello DLR regulars! I have a question that I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer -
So I have a trip planned to the California Parks in the Fall and I see that they've just announced the dates and times for the Halloween events. Normally, I avoid the parks (all of them) during holiday times like the plague.

If the event time is 6-9pm - does that mean that the parks are closed for those of us not participating in the event? I'm only planning to be there for 4 days and as of yesterday, half of those days are now on the schedule for the Halloween party. I'm not anxious to pay for a full day only to have to leave by 6. Does the party happen at both parks?...or just Disneyland?

Does anyone know what the event usually costs? Is it worth the cost? (Not planning on making room in my suitcase for a costume though)

How crowded are the parks during the lead up to Halloween?

    Thanks All.

Yep. The Halloween parties have been a separate ticket event for a few years now. The closure only applies to Disneyland and the good news is that DCA will probably be poppin' enough to stay open pretty late.

What dates are you thinking about?

Fridays the parks really get slammed at about 5 for two hours until the party starts at 7. At 7 a lot move from DL to DCA. On Tuesdays this is moderated quite a bit and more will go home after the 6pm closure of DL. The parties go until 12am on Friday, 11pm on Tuesday.

You should do a party which will cost about $55. I would suggest getting a 3 day park hopper and a MHP ticket. The cost is roughly the same as a 4 day hopper. On the party day you can enter DL at 3pm on Tuesday or 4pm on Friday with the party ticket and stay until close, leaveing the morning to sleep in and spend time by the pool or in DTD.

Yes, day guests will be cleared from Disneyland at the Party start time and only guests with a separate Party ticket (and wristband) will be allowed to remain. California Adventure will be open until its regular closing time.

Party dates, times and advance ticket prices can be found at this link.

Worth the cost? Up to you. If you've already got park tickets or Annual Passes, perhaps not. But for those without, it allows about eight hours of park time at a roughly $30 discount.

There aren't any haunted mazes like the other parks, right? Not even a single bloodless walk-through with jump scares?

Nope, its a Disney family-friendly halloween.

Knots Scarry Farm or Universal Fright Fest will fit your blood chilling thrills if you prefer that.
There is no right or wrong in this debate. It is simply a matter of perspective.

If you can you should go the HW party. It is fun and you don't need a costume. I will say the parks are crowded on the TFSS section of the week. MT are the less crowded and W is usually pretty good.

Have to say if you do go the HW party keep in mind not everything is open, a lot of major items are but defintely the restaurants and shops are limited. There is a seperate fireworks and parade show, special meet and greets with the villians and of course the infamous candy trail.
