Disneyland "sci-fi" novel

Hi. Someone once told me about a science fiction novel wherein Disneyland was a fully functioning city in the future, with each attraction being different districts which would get into some type of social wars with eachother, and the mayor of the city lived in the Haunted Mansion... or something loosely like that. Or maybe not even remotely like that. Either way, does any of this ring a bell with anyone? I can't recall either *who* told me about the book or *what* it was titled... it may be independent press. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

My brother was telling me something similar about a book he read but I don't believe it was actually set in Disneyland but a similar amalgamation of theme parks in general.

Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Corey Doctorow

fun book, I really enjoyed it

It's set in Disney World and if memory serves it is a functioning city....I read it about a year and a half ago but I remember a lot, if you want to read it I will not post any spoilers...If you would like to discuss it I love talking books...just let me know

This is a great book. It has a lot of interesting ideas in it that I keep thinking about...but I won't spoil it either. Be sure to post back if you do read it!

It's really good. I highly recommend it. It's not too long and you can read it in an afternoon or so, and it had a lot of interesting thoughts and observations on theme parks in general and on Disney parks in particular. I enjoyed it so much that I wrote Cory Doctorow an e-mail about it - mentioned that I hadn't been to WDW so maybe we didn't have much in common as far as that went and he said there was a period of his life where the only photo ID he had was a DL AP!

Definitely one of us, basically. Enjoy the book!

Another good book along this line is Dream Park by Larry Niven. Not about Disneyland, but cool anyway.
