  • [Chat] Never realize how lucky I am to live in California

When I see people in the park that come from New York, Texas, France, China, Australia,
I just remember how lucky I am to be living in the state that has one of the greatest theme parks ever built.
And look, people from all over the world are here to see it, many their first time, and here I only have to drive a mere 6/7 hours to see it.

I go back a few times a year, and for some of these people they are just so grateful to even experience it once.
It makes me so happy for them, and also a little sad that they may not get to come back for a long time.

I don't know what I would do if I didn't live so closeby, it would be hard for me having lived here my whole life to suddenly move to a non-driving distance away.

Even though I only live a few miles from DLR, I enjoy playing tourist when I go there. Strangely enough, if I were to move somewhere else it would probably be to another tourist mecca such as Branson because I think I'd feel right at home in such a place having grown up in the Touristopolis.

Las Vegas is closer to DL than the OP is, but it's not California so I guess they're not as lucky.

Re: Never realize how lucky I am to live in California

I daydream about it all the time. When I walk down my nearby busy streets, I sometimes envision that I am walking down Harbor Blvd, and Disneyland is coming up at the next street light. Of course, it isn't and I come back to reality. I then come home, and log onto MiceChat, and I read about all the goings on from tourists, and locals, and annual passholders, and all of Disneyland's lucky visitors.

yes, but IMO D-land is the original and hence better. I realize many disagree.

Well, even though I live in a different country, it is still cheaper, and quicker for me to jump on a flight and head down Unless of course I lived in LA, but that isn't going to happen. But, that being said, I'd love to live in a Climate like California for reals.

I've always been a California Girl. Been going to Disneyland since 1962. At first I lived 6 hours away. Now, for the past 19 years, I have lived only 3 hours away. We come to the Park at least two to three times a year.

And, I would love to live even closer!

You have no idea! A trip from Canada costs me $2000 a person for five nights.

However, at the same time the Resort is just that much more special to me because of how rare an experience it is to get to see it all.

I am glad to be living in SoCal! We have the best weather in the nation. There are a lot of things to do. We don't need to travel long distance just to have fun. Getting to the beach take less than an hour. We have a lot of attractions here in SoCal that are within driving distance.

Let's see, we have Disneyland Resort, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Legoland, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Raging Waters, Knotts Soak City, Hurricane Harbor, the beaches. etc.

Oh yea, we can ski in the mountain and go to the beach all in the same day.

The only thing I hate about this state is the damn TAXES!

The only other state that I am willing to live in is of course in Orlando, Florida. I envy their state, but HATED their summer weather, boys, is it sticky and rainy all summer long.

When you think about it, California is kind of like a Theme Park in it's self. It has dessert, beaches, forests, jungles, cities, agriculture, mountains, and disney.

wish I lived in Socal like some of you!
But as much as it's a pain to drive 7 hours, it's all the more exciting when you arrive.
I feel like driving 5 minutes to get there would take away some of the "mystery of a far off enchanted land" feeling for me.

I would love to live in Southern California but financially it is impossible right now. My husband says that if we move there we wouldn't have our favorite place to escape to. I beg to differ. I love going to California. I love Disneyland with all my heart and feel at home there but I also love the beach and the shops and the weather. We live in Tucson, Az and it is beautiful here but for some reason I am in love with California. We would love to go this summer but I don't for see that happenin. Trying to plan a trip for next may when my grandson turns 1 and my youngest daughter turns 13. Both milestone birthdays. We all miss California so much.

I would LOVE to live in SoCal. My husband, not so much....

But I'm trying to convince him that in retirement we should "snowbird" in the DLR area instead of how most people do in Arizona.

Re: Never realize how lucky I am to live in California

California is so great, Disney built a theme park about it!

I was born and raised in California, but I LOVE living in Tokyo! DLR is great (again) but living 90 mins from TDR was just as much of a great treat for me and still miss it...a lot!

But overall, living back in SoCal for the first time in 15 years, it is nice, especially the weather and beaches! But the traffic sucks, you need a car just to go the store, a lot of it is quite dirty (although OC is very clean) and everything seem to shut down around midnight, so yeah its great but it still has its draw backs like any place. But sure, definitely one of the better places to live in the world...especially if you love theme parks!
