  • [Chat] Glow With the Show AP Preview 6/28 Review

This will be quick but we attended the Glow with the Show AP preview tonight and we were highly impressed with DCA's handling of the line for the Preview to pick up the ears (even if it did look like a extremely large mess and clusterF*** upon walking up to it.) The line began at mickeys fun wheel and went back to the ice cream store on the pier. It then crossed all the way over to the other side and down along California screaming before winding back and forth several times along the same walkway. We were herded along in a very orderly manner through the line towards the Goofys sky school end of paradise pier where they took the vouchers we had been handed at check in to receive our ears. We were then free to find a spot wherever we wanted for the viewing. We found a spot right towards the Ariel's grotto end on the 2nd tier up from the water. The show was supposed to begin at 1145 but didn't start until closer to 1210. The buzz around us was fun as everyone was so excited to see how this would work. (we had been to the test night during Buena Vista Streets Opening on June 14th so were able to answer some peoples questions around us and knew what to expect). The viewing area was much more packed than the preview we saw. Once the show started the amount of people made the show infinitely more enjoyable as the sheer number of glow hats heightened the experience. At the beginning we found ourselves along with most of the rest of the crowd just watching the people and the hats more than paying attention to the show. The fact that ears right next to us glowed different colors or even different shades of colors to ours was fun to see. All in all this made a the show feel new and exciting to us. The entire crowd oohhd and aahhhed at the ears and the crowd was definitely in a good spirit especially for it being so late!! Looking back as we exited and seeing the ears glowing obver the water which was glowing was also a sight to see.

As we exited the park we got to see Mickey and Walt had enjoyed the show also Photo by englishpauliewallie • Instagram haha

I give this new edition an A- but I dont ever thing there will be this many peoplee with the hats at a regular viewing of WOC unless its a special event so it remains to be seen how long this will last. In my opinion thats a great shame.

I was there, too. I really enjoyed the hats element as well. As I suspected, this was filmed, presumably for a commercial to get everyone excited about the hats and to plunk down their $23. Below are a few photos. I shot some video, too, but am too tired to upload/process that right now.

We were also there and all we could say was "This is crazy!!" I love the colors. And I agree with how it was much prettier because there were more ears out there tonight We were scared they would run out of ears, but they didn't! And yes, I was also impressed with how they handled the HUGE crowd that was there. Definitely one of my most unforgettable memories at the park I'm so glad I was able to go to this preview because like you said, future WOCs that I would attend would prob not have as many ears!

I hope the rest of the micechatters who are going tomorrow and Saturday will have as much fun as my friends and I had!

The voucher said "Annual Passholder Glow with the Show Screening," so technically no, but I think the OP meant "preview" in terms of "getting a first glimpse at what it's like when everyone has the hats."

I was there, and I hope that since they have our name and pass number and that is linked to an email address they look for feedback. I expected the ears to be going off the entire time, so I was glad that there were parts in the show where the ears were dark. It really did enhance the show, rather than taking over the show. That was a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to see what they do during the Mad T Party. I'm curious how you will know when it's "Glowing WITH the Show" or just glowing because it's on. lol
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

I'm pretty sure the original voucher said it can be turned in at a ticket booth any time after 9:00 pm. We did it around 10:30 and then they gave us individual vouchers for the glow hats that said to line up on Paradise Pier no earlier than 11:00 and no later than 11:45. We arrived over there a few minutes before 11:00 and there was already a big line that a CM directed us into.

Are the hats free to keep or they need to be returned after the show ?

Was there a huge line to receive your voucher at the ticket booth? Does anyone know when people started lining up for 9PM to get their voucher? My concern really is that they'll run out of vouchers since it's on a first come first serve basis

At 10:30 there was no wait at the ticket booth. I seriously doubt they're going to have people show up for an 11:45 pm event, voucher in hand, and then turn them away because it's "first come, first served." I'm pretty sure if you've secured your voucher and you show up on time, you'll get your hat. We were a little concerned when they started splitting the line up into a bunch of smaller lines that zig-zagged all over Paradise Pier, but as the OP said, they handled it very well and I don't think anyone went hat-less last night.

It does look good when there is a crowd of people wearing the hats, but only then. I was there on Monday watching WOC with a few people who had the hats and it really is unnoticeable unless you have a significant amount of people wearing them.

So with the show beginning at 12:10 am instead of 11:45, was that a result of a delay or what?

My guess was to make it so the crowds leaving Disneyland at midnight and the WoC crowd didn't all converge on the parking structure trams all at the same time.
I actually heard this said by a CM over the loud speakers at Big Thunder in 1995, "Please do not sit on the rocks. You will fall...and you will die."
