  • [Idea] Tomorrowland Ride idea (people mover track)

Before I start... yes its a pixar movie tie in but hear me out.

    Wall-E dark/light ride.

Take the people mover track and make it an omnimover type system. Each buggy is a chair from the movie Wall-E complete with screen. The ride starts and goes into the first dark room scene where you are riding next to and amongst other people in chairs (screens, video, animatronics etc) when you see in the background Wall-E and Eve and they cut the power to the chairs and everyone's screens on their chairs cut out and they begin to notice the world around them. Your chair then moves outside where the speaker system tells you to notice the world around you (queue music). When you head into the next dark room you get to see the interactions of Wall-E and Eve floating through space and dancing, The next indoor scene is the battle ending with the "landing" back on earth and your "exiting" the spaceship which leads you back to the loading area.

I think the idea works great in Tomorrowland because the movie is set in the future, it creates movement in the land again, and uses existing infrastructure.

    thoughts?

Wall-E definitely has a tomorrowland feel to it, so it fits...not sure it's exciting enough though.

I agree, sounded pretty boring. Maybe if you add more detail to what you're envisioning it would help other people see it.

Wall-E fits into Tomorrowland perfectly. It could def. be a good dark ride in the spot where Innoventions is.

I think they're going to tear down the People Mover Tracks, but put a similar structure up for shade down the center of TL.

well the idea was sort of rough and its been YEARS since i rode the people mover track so I cant remember how many times the track travels indoors through the buildings where the show/screens could be. obviously the more it travels indoors the more scenes and excitement it could create. The overall idea though was that its encouraging people to see the world around them outside instead of sitting idle staring at the screens of their phones

Although a Wall E dark ride on the track is interesting, I also don't think Disney will approve the "You start the ride as one of the obese, can't-do-anything-for-themselves adult babies in your futuristic EVC" part.

I actually think this is a pretty good idea. The biggest failure of the Rocket Rods was the fact that it couldn't take the turns at speed due to no bank and the constant starting and slowing was rough on the mechanics.
This ride could be a slower paced attraction and would not be as rough on the vehicles.
As for the excitement factor, I challenge you to tell me that the original People Mover was thrilling.

You may start the ride as such, but you'll feel so much better after the ride and realize that you're NOT!
Unless you ARE, in which case maybe it'll be the kick in the pants you'd need to start making changes.... motivation-like!

Haha. Well for the foreseeable future, I'm going to be "pooh like" at the start and the end of the ride, motivation or not. I'm already exercising more but I need to keep my paws out of the hunny pot more often.

I just don't think Disney is going to touch that concept with a ten foot pole. A better and more PC way to do the ride would be you are the cockroach and you miss Wall E so much you found a way to go to space and then observe everything. Maybe the ride vehicles can be blocks of compact garbage.

Be a cockroach or an obese person? Hmmm... I'd rather be an obese person...

No, for reals though, I get where you're coming from. Perhaps if they slightly modify the concept from being "obese, can't-do-anything-for-themselves adult babies in your futuristic EVC" to touting a new, futuristic form of transportation. Not like they haven't altered storylines for rides in the past...

seems long of a track for it to be an omnimover and a bit to passive to keep people interested. just like the peoplemover, vehicles would be leaving the loading area empty and in a few years the ride would be conisdered to costly to run based on popularity

Instead of the whole "obese" characters in Wall-E concept, make it like what the movie's message was trying to deliver. After watching Wall-E for the first time, I couldn't stop thinking of the message and what tomorrow could look like. The ride could be like you stepping into the movie with a bunch of scary advertisements around you like "TRY BANANA... IN A CUP!" and then in the dark portions there's babies being taught "B is for Buy N Large", creepy right? It's like you're in the Axiom.
