I've long suspected the may have had a connection. From the pictures I've seen they do look exact like the same ones used in ATIS. Could be a lot more of them are re-purposed as well.

I wished I had known about this little factoid before we went to DL. I would have been looking for it. I remember riding in that very same atom mobile when I was a kid. I remember everything! LOL, I don't remember hardly anything.
...Liquidspaceman, over and out!

"You'll need a Boesky, a Jim Brown, a Miss Daisy, two Jethro's, a Leon Spinx, not to mention the biggest Ella Fitzgerald ever."
That's a cool fact to know. From 1969 to 1985 both Adventure thru Inner Space and Haunted Mansion were in operation, so obviously they aren't the same set of vehicles, but it's neat to know that they kept one from ATIS and are still using it. They ought to have the ATIS soundtrack running in that one, even though you are seeing the HM scenes. That would be freaky.
I remember ATIS very well. It is nice to know a piece of it remains in Disneyland. I always enjoyed seeing the "microscope" in the original Star Tours ride. Anyone know if there is a tribute in any of the new Tours?
sigpic Hidden Mickey - Historical fiction about Walt that mixes action and mystery with time travel and fantasy! Tweens to adults will enjoy these novels. And now, three gamebooks to play in Disneyland, DCA and WDW Magic Kingdom!

yes inside the Death Star is the mighty microscope
I was there last night (mostly to confirm the alternate narration that appeared last week) and #55 doesn't look any different from its neighbors, but I won't make any guess about its source.
There is, however, a group near the front (starting with #7, IIRC) that have a different type of restraint bar. It bends down a bit around the entrance side and the piece of the buggy body normally there is missing.
(I can't seem to get enough of reverse-engineering rides, apparently.)
