9/11 at Disneyland, - : Disney World, Disneyland and More

It's from the "laughing place", but you're in for a very somber, sentimental, and tear-jerking article about what followed after the tragic events of 9/11 in the happiest place on earth.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just came across it and it is a very good article with lots of pictures.

From Disney sending out crews of Disney characters to the neighboring hotels to entertain children who didn't understand what happened to America that day, to them lowering all the flags to half mast, and everything in between,

it just goes to show that Disney is a wonderful company for being able to step outside themselves for a day and mourn together for a day when we lost so many.

Please read this article, and good luck not crying like I did

Beautiful article. And the luck you wished me didn't work; I have all the tears!

The park is so eerily empty. It's almost as if the dead walk among the deserted streets.

That really touched my heart. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing when I found out about the Twin Towers

So very moving. I was also at the park on 9/11/2011 when Disneyland acknowledged the 10th anniversary of the attack. The flag retreat ceremony was solemn and moving. People were lined up all the way back to the castle to see it. I did manage to video it, if anyone is interested. Disneyland always does a wonderful job with the flag ceremonies, but this one was particularly special.

It was a strange feeling the day Disneyland re-opened after 9/11, the park was so empty. Everything was walk on, not a line anywhere to be found.

I was on page 6, thinking ok... No tears. But when I started reading 7, the tears were flowing. My boyfriend asked if I was ok.

Good article i have always wondered though how would Disney deal with something like 911 at the park. That would be the most terrifying and horrific thing ever. Just pray it never happens. But every time I go through the security it freaks me out because they barely check your bags they just take a one second look and then let you in. Whatever i think disney should improve security to prevent something like 911 from happening.
