  • [Fun] 35th Anniversary Pop Up Map

I thought I would finally post pictures of this map I've held on to since my parents bought it for me in 1990. It's a pop up map of Disneyland. I decided to take it out and look at it since our family trip to Disneyland is coming up on July 21st (expect the usual picture thread to show up as well as a long series of video in the coming months!). We'll spend 1 week in Anaheim before we move on to Laughlin, Nevada, where we'll be staying at the Colorado Belle as a family for the first time since 1999.

Many of us on Micechat remember the 35th Anniversary: 35 Years of Magic. Dream Machine was in the hub. We had the Party Gras parade making its show stops along the parade route. I remember Roger Rabbit being part of that parade. 1990 was one of those rare years we went twice. That day we went in March 1990 was one of the only off season days I've ever experienced.

One thing I wish I still had was this old Disneyland Hotel tshirt my parents bought me when they took a trip of their own. I wore it in my 3rd grade school photo. The tshirt had the Sierra Tower with Mark V Monorail Red.

Thanks for posting Koutesu. I've got one of those too, but mine is out in the garage.
I better go get it. Maybe I can make a deal with MrsMonroe. Didn't mean to tempt you,
I would never part with it. It's coming with me when I go into the urn.
That brought back great memories with my mom, rest in peace, and my brother.
              ...Liquidspaceman, over and out!

Re: 35th Anniversary Pop Up Map

I came across one of these, sealed, in a used bookstore for about $2 lol. I've never opened it because I wasn't sure how rare it was, so it's great to see what it looks like inside -- in a word, AWESOME! I wish I could open it. I remember my 1990 Disneyland trip quite well, even some of the stay at the Disneyland Hotel, and I remember the distinctive design of the T-shirts, bag, etc.

OP, there are 1990 35th anniversary Disneyland Hotel T-shirts on Ebay every so often.. that's where I got mine.

Re: 35th Anniversary Pop Up Map

Thanks everyone! I also have digital copies of our old home movies spanning 1989-1992 (or '93) of our trips to Disneyland, Knott's, Sea World, and Universal I've also been meaning to put together, but haven't had time to do it (we are planning to be there this month, so that's on the front burner). Someday, I guess...
