  • [Question] Original DCA Opening Ceremony

The title is pretty self-explanatory I want to compare the original DCA opening ceremony to the Re-launch ceremony though I think the latter will be better than the former. Anyone have a video or atleast pictures with a script? Thanks a lot

    Original Opening 2001:

    Reopening 2012:

Thoughts: The original opening wasn't that bad. It felt very Epcot-esque due to its consistent cultural theme. If only the park lived up to its "California culture" theme, the ceremony would have totally matched the park. Sadly, it had nothing to do with DCA. Meanwhile the grand reopening was very Disney. I think they were trying to play it safe with all the musical numbers and characters (which isn't a bad thing). Now THIS ceremony totally matches with what the park symbolizes. The "California here we come" song is from the Red Car News Boys show, I thought that was neat!

I feel bad for all the people's hopes that were up in the crowd awaiting to see what was inside. They must have been like,

"OOH! THIS IS EXCITING! HERE IT COMES!!!!" .......

      *family enters DCA..*

Dad: "Hey kids! Last one to the car has to stay inside California Adventure!"
Kids: "AHHHH!!!!" *Kids sprint to the car*

I think they owe the Klepper family from Murrieta, CA an apology.

The original ceremony was not to shabby if I do say so myself. Very World Showcase/ Cirque de Soliue like. Though I think were pretty much agreeing the new one was better plus ALL THE CM'S WERE IN IT!! Anyone think Disney would have found the Kleppers and let them be the first in the re-launched park?

Watching the original ceremony makes me wonder what the Klepper family thought about the original park and if they've seen the new additions...

Wonder if Paul Pressler and Michael Eisner have seen what a "real park" that wasn't already built by a creative genius looks like.

I think the opening production cost more than the park LOL

I think the original was incredibly optimistic and a tad overly artistic. I think the current was cute, down to Earth and over super quickly so everyone could race to Cars Land.
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".
