  • [Idea] Disneyland California Adventure Superpark

    Here it is:
get rid of the esplanade and turn DCA and DL into a superpark.

I don't want this to happen, but it's an idea.
Maybe some of you want this.
    Thoughts?

Eh, it would be too ginormous. Think about it. Let's say that you're done riding California Screamin' and you want to meet up with someone on the other side of the park to ride on it's a small world. Long walk. I know someone who once got split up with their party and had to run around Disneyland to find them because there was a deadline that they had to meet with their party. The whole thing. They ran it in 20 minutes. If you loose your kid in Disneyland, it'll be twice as huge and hard to find them. It'll just be too huge.

      Re: Disneyland California Adventure Superpark

If you use parkhopping privileges it already is just one big superpark...
I suppose though you could fit a few more rides into the esplanade...

No way! It's awesome to have two different parks to go to. With DCA really establishing it's own identity nwo, it's even better!

I'd hate for the option for a one-park ticket to go away. If they did this, you know they'd use the Parkhopper price (if not add to it). Land is not at such a premium that we have to get rid of the connector and divider between the two parks.

DCA is not Disneyland.....both parks tell different story's though similar...you'd also have...like 3 Hubs for one parks.....

mabye it could work. an i actauy think it is a good idea but what would happen to the bus station. mabye it could be moved to the espn zone area and its a clever idea of making it one big park and the con for disneyland i'm right about is that dl is so small so it could work.

                  Re: Disneyland California Adventure Superpark

It is unlikely now for a one gate park. So, I'll feel an upgrade of the Esplanade is in order. It could become the official picnic area for the park, instead of the current ugly concrete picnic area. Plant lots of trees, bushes, and flower beds. Build a fountain or a small lake/pond, and build a band stand for the Disneyland Band to hold concerts. Sprinkle a few OVDs about for the folks to spend money. The security checks would need to be pushed back, and the ticket booths would need to be relocated or perhaps a new entrance protocol redesigned.
This would certainly enhance the walk between the two parks, and allow for some relaxing moments (maybe).
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

One of the things that would have to be done is to extend the railroad tracks into what is now DCA.

                      Re: Disneyland California Adventure Superpark

Tony Baxter proposed this idea last decade, and they seriously considered it for awhile.

But the logistics of working the rest of the Resort around a massive superpark were too tricky, and the marketing of it would have been too messy. They would have spent a fortune building new ticketing and transportation facilities, and that would have been less money spent on DCA itself.

I think we got the best deal we ever could have hoped for; a second gate that is one of the best second gates in the world now (behind Epcot and DisneySea) and a revitalized Resort that will draw people for decades.

I would be fine with one super park but not for the Disneyland Resort. If they built a new resort with a super park i would be all for it

im sure it can be done but keep them separate, main street is in the front for a reason. but exploring the idea can be interesting

Wait...this means I could walk from the beer truck right over to the Mark Twain? Join the parks!!!!!

Also, if they joined the parks they could have multiple monorail stops around the park.

                                  I would totally do this!!!

We could put all kinds of rides in between the 2 parks. Maybe they can put a moat and put a water ride there.

They should expand the train to around around DCA. Also, bring back the People Mover and have it go from park to park.

I also think we could get some good California restaurants with the expansion. California Pizza Kitchen would be good. I really like their Thai peanut chicken pizza. Also, maybe a giant food court with good Calfiornia seafood, looking over the moat.
