Here's some concept art I did (fan made though I admit I copied and pasted 2 palm trees from clip art onto it) for a brand new version of The Great Movie Ride in Hollywoodland at DCA. Unlike it's Floridian counterpart it has a different exterior (with some inspirations from the one in Florida, & the Warner Theater). Not just that but it is called "The Great Movie Journey". The exact location of the ride would replace both Monster's Inc & Stage 13. So feel free to comment and such also see the picture below.

Generally, I am against clones. However, I would dance with delight if The Great Movie Ride came to DCA. It is the perfect fit for Hollywood Land. I saw the original during my first trip to WDW last year and it may have been my favorite thing about the whole resort. While I am sure the locals/regulars are bored to death of it, I was amazed. A 22-minute dark ride with a live host and actors? It was in my top 5 Disney rides of all time.

I would rather see a roller coaster, something along the lines of Rockin' Roller Coaster. Great movie ride was a disappointment to me. The ride was way to cheesy and BORING for me. It was not all that interesting. It was definitely no POC. So I have a hard time understanding the love for this attraction. It was extremely bad, maybe our guide just sucked, it is a hit and miss with live guides. But anyway I would take a fun coaster over the GMR.Favorite Ride: Tower of Terror

TBH I rode this is WDW when I was younger but forgot the ride so I just went and watched the whole experience thanks to TCV on YouTube to see the queue and ride and I loved it. I want to ride it again. The ride was fun to watch and it seems like it could be a nice ride like a Pirates if you don't want thrills and want to kind of relax for a while, or in this case, about 20 minutes. I would definitely find this to be a better ride for Hollywoodland in Disney's California (Emphasis because the movie business is big in Hollywood, which is located in California, FYI) Adventure.-Carter P.

Re: The Great Movie Ride for DCA Fan Made Concept Art
GMR is probably my least favorite E-ticket in any park. I find the random movie scenes to be very boring and they seem to lack any vision or any reason for them to be connected. It's just not very compelling to me and doesn't take me into another world, you can't help thinking you're watching AA's re-create movies you've seen before. You'd also need a lot more space because it's really huge. But I certainly don't want to see it re-created in DCA.Please check out my website, UncleBobDisneyGuy.com!

Re: The Great Movie Ride for DCA Fan Made Concept Art
Ideas fantastic, but the question of how to fut all that in there comes into play. Every time I've seen this discussion brought up, that question is always asked. Guess I will be the one to bring it forward.
Total Tender Rides: 20
Total Lilly Belle Rides: 9
Total Dapper Days Attended: 2
Total Mark Twain Wheelhouse Rides: 5

Re: The Great Movie Ride for DCA Fan Made Concept Art
I like the idea of a Great Movie Ride type of attraction. I'd like to see it completely reworked from Florida, possibly a different ride system, and mostly different films from DHS. I'd still like it to stay mostly AA based, and not a bunch of movie screens.sigpic

Re: The Great Movie Ride for DCA Fan Made Concept Art
I have mentioned this in two other threads today - gosh this is a popular topic. Here is how I would make the DCA version of the Great Movie Ride unique from its Florida counterpart
A - No onboard live narration - make it a straight ride through type ride like Pirates or Small World.
B- Have a tie in song throughout the entire ride - such as Hooray for Hollywood, if they can get the licensing to use the song, or Let's Go to the Movie's from Annie, or if need be, have a new song with a similar feel to those.
C - Have a series of rooms each with a similar theme, putting less focus on individual films, and more focus on types of films or genres. Each room would have a theme and small scenes from multiple films would appear in each room. There would be a romance room, a musical room, a fantasy room, a horror room, a sci-fi room, a western room, a crime drama room, a historical epic room, a comedy room, and of course the finale would be the DISNEY room. Each room would play the aforementioned theme song in a different style corresponding with the theme of the room.
D - Have dozens and dozens of audio animatronic iconic Hollywood legends throughout the entire ride. Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, Mae West, the Marx Brothers, Charley Chaplin, ect ect.
That would be the ideal Movie Ride to me. It would be like the Hollywood Wax Museum on steroids.

I wonder since all us hard core Disney fans are thinking a lot about it lately, if the Imagineers are doing the same, and if they are actually considering the GMR for DCA___________________________________________
