These places are California Land marks and I believe they could work at DCA The Alcatraz can be a sort of Dark Ride attraction think HM style the ride can have a storyline like escape from alcatraz and as far as Olvera Street they can Have a dark ride "dia de los muertos" attraction which disney is celebrating more and more every year, just a couple of ideas maybe there too dark but please share your thoughts

Re: How About a Alcatraz attraction or a Olvera Street attraction at The New DCA !
I always felt that San Fransico and the Mexican culture needed a real presence in DCA but we'll see what they do next. To be honest i think we'll see more "sparkle" first.

Why does every frickin new attraction have to based on a new movie. Lame...
Anyway - I would vote for the Great Movie Ride to be added to DCA in the updated Hollywood Area once that is done. Doubt that would ever happen, but it would be a great thing to see in the park. I would not have it be like the WDW version. I would instead have no live narrative, and be a straight ride through, with music, in the vein of Small World. And I would have a lot more movie stars and more scenes. All the classic stars would be depicted as animatronic figures, like Mae West, the Marks Brothers, Marilyn Monoroe, James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor - ect ect. Never gonna happen, but it would be awesome if it did.___________________________________________

we've talked about this in several threads. The company has a built in base with movies and it can generate way more money in terms of merch and branding. It's corporate synergy, and i'm ok with it as long as the quality is high.

lol - i realize the irony in my proposed attraction, but what i meant was basing attractions on a NEW movie release, and basing whether or not a new ride is added on the failure or success of the film at the box office.

I was saying my movie tie in statement not based on your alcatrez ride but on what jarroddragon said ----
"^rumor is a Pixar movie is coming out about Dia De Los Muertos so if there is any chance of an attraction about Death coming out...It would be in a few years when that film comes out"___________________________________________

The Dia De Los Muertos movie from Pixar is no rumor. Lee Unkrich will be directing it.

To the OP, I think that both of those areas would be neat. I lean more towards a Olvera street type area personally. Something that could involve arts and crafts for kids and adults, and also have different food options and stuff would be cool. Wishful thinking I suppose!

I always thought the wharf was more Monterey's Cannary Row than San Francisco's wharf. But they did add in that Ghirardelli shop, which is very San Francisco.

Re: How About a Alcatraz attraction or a Olvera Street attraction at The New DCA !
I would love to see an Olviera Street area in DCA with a "Dia DeLos Muertos" ride - - and also home to a "Three Caballeros" ride and "Zorro"! Perfect transition from Hollywood to Cars Land in the remaining parking area.
On the other end of the park, I would also like to see San Francisco expanded.
And, as an homage to Walt's dream of Mineral King, The Country Bears (originally designed for that park) should return to Grizzly Peak -- along with Ranger Woodlore and Humphrey.“I love the nostalgic myself. I hope we never lose some of the things of the past.” -- Walt Disney

Re: How About a Alcatraz attraction or a Olvera Street attraction at The New DCA !
Disney did make "The Rock" about Alcatraz under it's old Hollywood Pictures banner, but I doubt prisons would mix well with Cars Land. Olvera St, from what I understand from a California history class I took at UCLA, was a tourist trap invention from the get go and was from 1930, so that might fit in.

The Warf area is not necessarily San Francisco, not to mention there isn't a single show, attraction or shop. The SF area is laughable in size and the Mermaid ride has nothing to do with SF. With SF being a huge part of CA it isn't really represented, more like nodded at.
