well so they broke, but since nobody liked them, they bothered not to fix them. makes sense... use the $$$ elsewhere... like Cars Land!
What do you mean no one liked them, how do you come to that conclusion? The Wall-E segment is practically useless without them. Just look how beautiful they made this scene:
I don't buy for a second that they were taken out for "creative reasons". They used to all appear, then only a few worked, then they only came up half way, now they are gone. That isn't a creative evolution, its a slow degradation of an effect... my 2 cents.
I think the problem with things like these eels, the domes and the Everest Yeti are that they frequently fail to anticipate the long term wear and tear that the things will get. They may work fine in the first months of testing, but imagineers have to think in the much much longer term... asking, will this still work in 10 years/?
Also, Flotsam and Jetsam are apparently backstage on a trailer... not even in the water!

many people found them "distracting" like a cell phone in a movie theater. many reviewers said that too
the projection domes were taken out of the show because people didnt like them.

1. The domes were built especially for the show, and were new technology. I know they gave them a lot of trouble because of how they were built. If they were taken out creatively, that's one thing, but I can't help but think they just gave up. Especially because if nothing else, the Wall E seen really isn't complete without them.
2. The eels, when first made were know for flipping over, because they weren't built properly. It was one of the same issues they were having when the dragon wasn't showing up, but that took most of the focus. So, my point is two things have given them trouble technically, and they're both gone now. It seems to me that's it more of a lack of caring and taking the easy way out. Time will tell. As for the Chernabog tower that was never seen in performance, just rehearsal. That's a different story.
The maintenance in entertainment is so crappy these days. They build these things that don't work quite right, force them to perform anyway, and then they lose them, and give up instead of building it right the first time. Just like the projection domes in WOC. It's sloppy, cheap and lazy.
Do you have proof of this? Like the poster above me said the domes weren't cut out to be "sloppy, cheap and lazy" but because they weren't working in a way that the show director wanted. Flotsam and Jetsem weren't built crappy and forced to perform either. So I really don't know what you're implying with your post. Seems to be far off base.

the projection domes were taken out of the show because people didnt like them. Mr. steve Davison said it himself. he said, as i quote "The Domes didn't live up to my expectaions so we are rethinking them. Shows are organic. If it works great, if not... rethink it!

Yeah I haven't seen them in a long time. From what you guys are saying I think they have been missing for sometime now. They may had troubles with them.
The first time I saw Fantasmic was on Leap Day and I did not see F&J, nor have I seen them in any presentation of Fantasmic I've seen since (and even if I don't see the whole show I try to be there for the villains and finale).
Ok, it has been a long long time since I've seen these guys in Fantasmic! Am I just going on nights when they aren't out or have they been missing for a while? Anyone know what happened to them in the show?
