[Question] If there is going to be 2 new resorts, what will they be?

I have heard just about every rumor discussed but not much on the new resorts, Where would they be and what would the themes be? I thought the one was going to be next to Paradise Pier but didn't hear any location about the other. It was also my understanding that the hotels would come before the rumored third park

I've never heard anything about 2 parks. The rumored third one is supposed to go on the Toy Story lot and will hopefully be Marvel.

By resorts, I assume you mean hotels and not theme parks...... and I believe the Anaheim Resort District Master Plan only calls for one additional theme park in the current Toy Story parking lot.

Unless it's been updated, the Anaheim Resort District Master Plan had zoned for 2 hotels and DVC-like timeshare units at Gardenwalk. DIsney was to manage the two hotels but not actually own them. So, the lots are already zoned for hotels, you can see them on any aerial/satellite map - adjacent to and East of Gardenwalk on either side of the Fire Station.

Trouble is.... GW was allegedly for sale in January '12, and nothing has been heard since..... Originally, and for political purposes, I don't think the City of Anaheim wanted Disney to actually own too many resort hotels in the District, managing them would be one thing, owning them another, but under the current economy, perhaps they have changed their minds.

Gardenwalk went up for auction but they have been very tight lipped on who the new owners are which to me sounds very Disney. I for one hope they do get the property as it is the link to the posdible new 3rd gate. With 2 new hotel properties and a rumored DVC wing of the DL hotel this would make for a great new addition to the resort as a whole.

I meant hotels, i'm sorry for the confusion. I read about a new hotel going up adjacent to Paradise Pier in the future and hoped to hear more details. Hopefully it will be affordable, maybe something like the animation resort in orlando

The last thing that needs to slot into place before the third park gets underway is an expansion of Disney owned hotel rooms in Anaheim, with more DVC units attached to any new development. We’ve told you in the past about the solid proposals to build a new hotel and arrival complex in the East Esplanade shuttle bus loading area, as well as a fourth DVC tower at the Disneyland Hotel slotted for the vacant land just west of the ESPNZone. But again, TDA and Burbank will be looking at the numbers coming out of DCA through the rest of this year before either of those plans gets the green light.

I'd rather see a thrid gate not be limited to Marvel. However, an idea I've had and posted here before can include Marvel, well Thor at least. Disney has parks based on the future, movies, animals, the oceans, and California. One untapped area of plenty of source material is mythology. Hercules would have a home. Thor would have a home. (possibly Atlantis too) And it's an area that Disney could tap into with future movie projects.

I would love to see a castle themed hotel, the excalibur in las vegas was cool...maybe something similar to that...but more disneyish

I believe that is backwords. They would be disney built and owned but someone else would manage them with CM employees.

There is a pad north and south of the fire station on the east side, Lemon St, for the two hotels. The DVC units or timeshares were going over the parking garage.

Something about this may be in action with the unkown result of the GW forclosure.

Cool but two or at least 1.5 plus another up the block use Castle designs. Castle Inn and suites, the Anaheim Camelot Inn and Suites and further up Harbor the Sheraton Anahiem Hotel. Disney hasn't had the monopoly on turrets in a long time.


But two firm plans for Disney Hotels. Do tell, this is a new one.

I would love to see a hotel themed to 30's-40's Hollywood added to the Hollywood Land area much like the GC.
