I've been a fan since day one. Who wouldn't want a new disney park. I mean the changes have made it freaking amazing but i enjoied it in it'd original form.

I appreciated DCA from maybe 2004. Going over to ride Tower of Terror was nice, walk around Grizzly Peak, get different food from the Disneyland norm, see the Muppets movie. I enjoyed that. But, it was still basically a 2-hour park in terms of time worth spending there for me personally.

Hopefully Buena Vista Street and Radiator Springs increases that time limit upwards, which it definitely should. Not sure it would be a park I'd spend all day in still without going to Disneyland at all, but the visual quality and thematic depth of the new areas is undeniable and only makes DCA better overall.

Let's see. There was no effort, thought, or love that went into the park. Everything was done on the cheap side, and I didn't appreciate that. Also, I didn't get the same feeling I get when I go to Disneyland. DCA just felt and seemed like it was a random amusement park that happened to sit across Disneyland. It didn't feel very Disney at all. Now I will admit maybe around 2008 and on, I started liking it more. I am so glad they're making it better for the guests. Before I only spent maybe 2 hours in the park but now I feel I could spend the entire day there.

Because IMO it was a terrible park until they put in WOC.
Now it's even better, and I love it with Cars Land and everything else
They're really made it into something special, something worth taking pictures of.
But it is by no means done.

I only love things that amaze and inspire me; DCA has done neither of those. There is simply not enough imagination or theme in the lands there. In addition to that, it lacks the immersion of most other Disney Parks. When compared to other side parks like Disney Sea, there can be no competition.

That being said, the Tower of Terror and the GRR are both incredibly well themed attractions. I haven't had a chance to go on the Radiator Springs' ride yet, but I have heard generally good things about it. Point being, DCA has taken a giant leap forward and most likely has a bright future as well.

It took a while before I began to respect DCA. It has always been a great theme park, but it took some time to truly become a good Disney Quality Theme Park.

I can't say i loved it. It was something added to do at Disneyland, but it was not some thing I would have planned at staying at all day! It has always been part of our disney vacation half a Day at DCA and the other 2.5 days at DL! Now with the added changes it sounds like we will spend a full day there! I have yet to see them, but I am very much looking forward to seeing all the changes from carsland to silly sympany swings. I lookforward to the day when updates are made to Grizzly Rapids and Hollywoodland both in my view would truely complete the park!
I too would love to also see them bring back the mailboomer it added something to the DCA skyline. Loved that one!

I kind of liked DCA when I was little though when I got older I began to realize that it was indeed built on cheap in parts of the park, and now I'm glad the $1.1 billion renovation/expansion has done it's job.

When we first went to visit DCA, we did not like it. My hubby, a roller coaster fan, really loved Screamin' and we both loved Soarin', but not too much more. We hung in there and kept going back and liked it more each time we went. We are quite anxious to see the new land and rides. We have a trip booked for late October and have to wait that long! lol. We would just love some more trees and shade....

Because it didnt feel like a Disney park to me basically! I mean there are THOUSANDS of posts why people had issues with it and so I wont go down that road for the umpteeth time, but it felt closer to a better done KBF did it did a Disney park in the vein of DL, Epcot, TDS, etc. It just lacked, a lot!

And to be fair, it didnt take me 11 years to like it! I actually started liking it more in 2005 when I first rode TOT as another poster said. So it was actually 4 years I started to enjoy it more vs the first four years where it just felt bland and lifeless!

And I would say I did like from there through 2010 when they added more things like TSM, MI, more shows, etc. But I think when 2010 came with WOC and GF was when I started to look at DCA as a REAL Disney park and I started to enjoy just being there on its own terms! Before it was just a place to do my favorite things and head back to DL even if I liked it more and more. But from WOC on I did think of it as a Disney park and liked being there. Now, I look at it as any other Disney park and I can spend a whole day there AS I done 3 times now since June 15th. Thats the differnece now! Not only is there better quality I'm not bored after a few hours.

I live in Utah and there's one decent amusement park in the whole state called Lagoon. It's mostly a glorified carnival, but for the price it's pretty good. DCA opening day had many of the same rides as Lagoon. The drop tower, the wild mouse roller coaster, a river rapids ride, large unthemed roller coaster, a large ferris wheel with some kind of twist. Yeah, I was compelled to go to Disneyland, but DCA was something to just get out of the way real quick. You should never walk into a Disney park and think "Hey! This is just like our crappy park back home!"

But now the theme has skyrocketed past what it once was, and there are better rides. Sucks to you Lagoon! I'm going to California Adventure!

I still don't like it. I think it's a thematic mess. It's better than it was (and for the record, I still haven't seen the recent additions in person), but it's still not good and compared to what's across the esplanade it's terrible.

Explain? Disneyland also has it share of thematic messes. Just look at Tomorrowland, lets see here, Empty old People Mover Tracks, Innoventions (Best Buy), autopia, Nemo Subs, and starcade. All of those have no Tomorrow theme at all! Does Buzz? Hell even Star Tours doesn't, as Star Wars takes place A long time ago in a galaxy far far way. Disneyland has major flaws too. Does that make Tomorrowland terrible? No, it still kicks ***, it is home to two great E tickets. Nothing is perfect. You are being too hard on DCA, it is not terrible, and is definitely a good park.

The only problem I had with DCA is that it really didn't feel magical like Disneyland. It honestly felt like just any other theme park, definitely not up to Disney standards. Even though I haven't been there since last year, I think it's safe to say that it's carved its way out of the hole it was in and been put up to standards, but I have yet to go there myself, even though I'm sure it's freaking amazing.

When they announced that they were sc the old California Adventure and redoing it, I was really scared. I wasn't a major fan of DCA to begin with, but it started to feel more like home as the years went by. But I'm really really super duper proud of Disney for not ruining round two of DCA. Can't wait to visit!
