Hopefully, no one has grown up loving POTC and later finds out Jack Sparrow wasnt originally in it, lol.

Alice, I just found out that there was an upside down room in that the talking door opened in to. And in a similar vein, I used to think that Pinocchio was an original, ut then found out it was added in the 80s(?)

Pinoccio was added at the same time the room in AIWL was changed (82/83 opened in 1983). It was during that massive Fantasyland re-do. It was so strange to go to the park as a kid and NOT be able to go into FL and to see the drawbridge up.

I know Jungle cruise was there on opening day, but there have been additions throughout the years. However, I don't know what all of the additions were. Except for the pirhannas, gorilla camp, I can't remember when any of the other stuff was added.

I know that Pirates opened in 1967 WITHOUT Jack and company, but for the longest time, I thought it was an opening day attraction.

Sigh, please don't throw me under the train but before I became a true Disney fan even before a fan at all I was essentially a Jones and believed pirates was made because of the movies. However I have learned tremendously since

I thought that Tower of Terror was a DCA original.

Ooo, I like this thread. A couple of years ago, I found out Pinocchio debuted in 1983. It seems like it was an original attraction. When I found out it wasn't I was shocked. Like three days ago, I found out Alice wasn't an original either.

My wife watched the DVD of the opening of Disneyland and saw that the Tea Cups were not where they were now. She also asked about the whereabouts of the Matterhorn and the Monorail. It was a shocker to her.

New Orleans Square and Critter Country! Park would just seem weird without NOS at least!

To go along with NOS, I thought POTC and HM were there since opening.

Didn't know about Pinocchio until I became an obsessed fan. Alice I always thought seemed kinda out of place and more new than the others. I also didn't know Mad Tea Party and Dumbo were in different locations. And I "forgot" Astro Orbitor used to be more toward the back of TL.

Everything else, I felt/feel pretty knowledgeable about.

On the flipside, I didn't even know there were submarines in the lagoon until the ride long closed. When my brother told me about it, I thought for sure he was lying. And then Finding Nemo was announced and I looked into the history of it. Blew my mind. Somehow, through all of my childhood, I had never been in the subs!

When I was younger I assumed that everything that had been there since I could remember, had always been there ahahha.

But more recently, I used to think all the Fantasyland Rides were original.

As well as the Matterhorn, It's a Small World, Pirates, Haunted Mansion..
they all seem like such classics, hard to believe there was a time they weren't there!

Like most of you, I thought NOS was there since opening day, as well as all the Mountains.
