  • [Question] 15th Anniversary trip planning

My husband and I will be going to Disneyland Sept. 19-24 to celebrate our 15th anniversary. This will be our first trip without the kids. I would love to make this a very special trip for the two of us. Any suggestions on making this a relaxing, romantic, kid-free trip would be appreciated. I should add that we will have 4 days in the parks and we are staying at the DLH. We are not planning on going off-site. On our previous trips I have tried to really plan out our trip so that we can make the most of our Disney Days. I want to have a plan, but I also am looking forward to a more relaxing experience this time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thursday the 20th won't be busy, leave as much of it open to go on rides as possible. Friday the 21st won't be busy until the evening, so leave the morning for rides.

Saturday and Sunday the 22nd and 23rd will be busy. Do things with reservations or that take longer breaks from rides on this day. Such as tours, sit down meals, WoC or the F! dessert package.

Next year I'm trying for a summer internship at Stark Industries.

If you were ever going to eat at the Blue Bayou or Carthay Theater restaurant, now is the time to do it, while you're sans children.

And don't forget to do "kids' things" while you're there without them. Could be a lot of fun for two adults to take pictures with characters, ride Dumbo, or have a character meal.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Good point! Thank you for reminding me of this. I have been thinking how different this trip needs to be, but what I love about Disneyland is being a kid again. Dumbo with hubby would be great!

Don't forget starting September 14, it's Halloween Time at DLR. Be sure to stop by Jack Skellington's Haunted Mansion, the ghostly Tower of Terror, and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, as they will be decked out in their Halloween makeover.

If you want a stress free day (and have the budget for it), consider booking a VIP Standard or Premium Tour. You get to set the pace you want with your private CM tour guide. Just be sure to communicate what you would like to accomplish and at what pace: attractions you want to see, if you want to hear a lot of trivia about the parks, rides you love, restaurants you want to eat at, shows and parades you want VIP viewing, etc. When you call to book your tour, if possible, they will try to match a tour guide that can help you meet most if not all of your goals. Your CM tour guide will arrange your day and set up your activities. It's like having a concierge for DLR moving with you throughout the parks. And because they are traveling with you, you'll be able to make adjustments and additions on-the-fly. These are the same VIP tours you might see celebrities and their families using, although most keep a low profile.

Hope you have a fun and special 15th anniversary!
