  • [Question] Does Disneyland still sell the giant wall maps of the park? Souvenir guides?

I don't even know if there was a collector's California Adventure map, maybe when it first opened. Anyone out there know?

Visit before last to the park (September 2011) I asked at both the front gate newsstand and the Emporium at Disneyland, and both places said they didn't have any. Do they still sell the park maps at all? Very disappointing if not so: that was the same trip I couldn't find a postcard rack or a single souvenir book abut Disneyland in the Emporium. The Disneyana store had the big glossy kind of 'special edition' souvenir guide created for the 50th which has been out for what...6 years at this point? But not a single small paperback book like they used to always have on a yearly basis, and was changed around somewhat. Age of electronic media I suppose, but disappointing. (example of what I mean here, about the souvenir book: Image). These were available at least through the mid-90's, I've got several dating back to the 50's in my collection.

So, are the maps now extinct forever along with the guidebooks and any postcard outside maybe the 6-8 available, very generic designs? Anyone buy one lately who knows where you can pick one up? Sad that it is the case that so many small 'quality' park souvenirs are vanishing from store shelves in favor of generic logo stuff. No more porcelain character figures in the Emporium, either, or 'made for Disneyland' skulls, shrunken heads, and the like in Adventureland, etc, etc. I miss those days...

Do you mean something like this? I have one, and I'm pretty certain it's out of stock. D: I don't think there is one for Disney's California Adventure, either. However, I'm not 100% sure on that, so you might get a different response from another comment.

Hoping it's that they're making a slightly updated fun map and not that they're gone entirely.

I haven't specifically noticed in the last few years. Usually I've been going in the stores for a specific item and then leaving.

I wonder if the fun maps are in Disneyana or Off the Page where you can get the attractions posters.

I have maps of DL from the 60s, 80s, late 80s (Splash is new on it), 95 (has toontown and Fantasmic), and 2005 as well as a DCA map from 2001 (it has all opening day attraction on it, and is a bit creepy stylistically, much different from DLs)

          Trips coming up:

          May 22-26th
          July 13th-18th
          November 19th-25th

I just today received the Error souvenir map from the front gate with Tomorrowland spelled incorrectly as Tormorrowland. I think I also found a second error, but not sure.

I love the huge park maps and couldn't find one in WDW when we were there in January. Don't know if they still have them. Hope so. Great souvenir!

Yes, this is referring to the big purchasable wall-size maps, not the front gate handout pamphlet. A shame no one seems to have a recent one. Really hope they aren't discontinued.

are you talking about one like this that they sold during the 50th? about 2 feet x 4 feet?

I was at the park a few months ago, and specifically checked if they had them anymore, and they don't, sorry

i suggest keep checking eBay regularly, maybe?... IIRC, they were pretty cheap when they sold them (< $10) since they were just paper

Re: Does Disneyland still sell the giant wall maps of the park? Souvenir guides?

Yes, that is the one. And they were not made just for the 50th...the park always used to sell them year round/annually make 'new' ones when there were changes to the park. I have many old versions (at least 4) from the 70's through the 90's.

Sad they don't bother even with that anymore. Very disappointing on Disneyland's part.

Thank you for verifying with recent information, though! Greatly appreciated.

They have one for DCA similar in style mocked up in Blue Sky Cellar but i don't think you can buy it.

They still have the Disneyland ones, i think they are just out right now, cause i saw them last time we were there in March.

Hey now, that's exactly the one I have! The one I posted isn't exactly an exact copy of mine (since I couldn't find the one I have on Google), but you nailed it! I hope you can find a copy soon, Regionsbeyond. If I find one for sale, I'll share the link with you.

They do run out of them for extended periods. In October 2005 for the 50th, I got what were probably the last two in the park. Wanted a few more for souvenirs, but nope. They were still out the following September of 2006. I had friends looking for them for me.

When I was there in Oct 2010 - none anywhere. The Cast members in the stores said they hadn't seen one in many months. Went again in June 2011 about 8 months later - there were stacks at the Emporium and the front gate newsstand & souvenir kiosks.

They used to come in very long waves. Hard to say if they are discontinued. I certainly hope not.

Sure, no problem. I hope you end up finding one. Let me know if you find anything, too. If they are selling them, I want to buy a few more for preservation. :P

I like how we got it, and then by the next time we went to the resort (december 2004) the map was already quite outdated... Now compare what is on my living room wall (framed) to what the one in Blue Sky Cellar looks like

I have that map too but it's different. Mine says "Disneyland" in place of the 50th and the ribbons are all maroon colored. It's pretty much the same except for that small differences of color and text. I'm assuming something else might be different because I'm unable to see the detail in such a small photo.

I love these large maps too. I have one from my local Six Flags too.

Yes, it does. This then must be from 1976: America Sings and America on Parade are listed, which opened for the anniversary of 1776. Space would be open within a year.
