I don't even know if there was a collector's California Adventure map, maybe when it first opened. Anyone out there know?
Visit before last to the park (September 2011) I asked at both the front gate newsstand and the Emporium at Disneyland, and both places said they didn't have any. Do they still sell the park maps at all? Very disappointing if not so: that was the same trip I couldn't find a postcard rack or a single souvenir book abut Disneyland in the Emporium. The Disneyana store had the big glossy kind of 'special edition' souvenir guide created for the 50th which has been out for what...6 years at this point? But not a single small paperback book like they used to always have on a yearly basis, and was changed around somewhat. Age of electronic media I suppose, but disappointing. (example of what I mean here, about the souvenir book: Image). These were available at least through the mid-90's, I've got several dating back to the 50's in my collection.
So, are the maps now extinct forever along with the guidebooks and any postcard outside maybe the 6-8 available, very generic designs? Anyone buy one lately who knows where you can pick one up? Sad that it is the case that so many small 'quality' park souvenirs are vanishing from store shelves in favor of generic logo stuff. No more porcelain character figures in the Emporium, either, or 'made for Disneyland' skulls, shrunken heads, and the like in Adventureland, etc, etc. I miss those days...
