Re: When is toy story land coming to DCA?
I love the theming of Toy Story Land but the execution is terrible and the rides are unimaginative. If they were planning on doing something totally different while still keeping the backyard toy theme i’d be down.

Re: When is toy story land coming to DCA?
Never. What would Toy Story Land would have to do with California? This is the DCA 1.0 thinking that brought us "a bug's land". This park DOES NOT need off-the-shelf, storyless rides in a gaudy representation of a film that has NOTHING to do with California (even if the land itself is well done).Disneyland Wooooh!

It is not enough that the production company is located in CA, the story must take place there as well."Greetings, Starfighter! You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada."

Re: When is toy story land coming to DCA?
And i'm saying that the story could easily be adapted to the California theme. How about: The toys have come alive at the Pixar studios and have escaped to explore the city of Emeryville, or San Francisco, or Oakland.
Heck if Little Mermaid is allowed in DCA, i don't see a problem with Toy Story aside from the fanatics screaming about the Pixar takeover. Its just not a legitimate reason for me to exclude something.

Re: When is toy story land coming to DCA?
Toystoryland is everything that should never come to DCA The green army men parachute is jumping jellyfish with green paint. RC racer can be found in magic mountain. And as far as shrinking down into a backyard area Bugsland does that well. No copies for DCA new attraction from now on please!BGood! It's not just my motto its my name!

I've seen the "Pixar is in CA" argument before, and it doesn't fly with me... unless it is added as an area off of Hollywood Studios. Sure Pixar is here... but it is not associated with the state the way thing like Hollywood, Route 66 or National Parks are.
But moreover, this post, I think, is about placing DSP's Toy Story Land in DCA... which is why there has been such a negative reaction. No one is arguing that the Toy Story characters don't have a place in DCA. You'll note there is much less of a reaction to simply the characters (TSMM).
Ariel works for the same reason TSMM works, it comes from a California theme. Just as TSMM injects characters into a pier-like setting (Midway Games), so does Ariel inject characters into another classic California seaside setting (the Boardwalk darkride).
So no, no one is saying there should not be Toy Story characters in DCA, we just don't want Paris' Toy Story Land. We don't want to exclude it because it's Pixar... we just don't need another gaudy out of place land... DCA already has one!Disneyland Wooooh!

Re: When is toy story land coming to DCA?
I like TSL, but I do not want it at DCA. The TSL theme does not fit with the 1920's theme the park is going for. Yes, A Bugs Land also breaks this 1920's theme (and in some ways so does Carsland). However, I think TSL would stick out like a sore thumb. We already have TSMM, I think that the park does not need more Toy Story in it. I would gladly accept, with open arms, a brand new idea or land rather than a recycled concept from a different park.

Similiar to the old DCA expansion concepts I'd like a big parachute drop, in the end loop of CS. It could be painted not just army green but in a two or three tone color scheme of greens or green with another nuetral tone to take the military influence away and blend into the boardwalk theme. Like wise the CM costumes don't have to be pure army but miliatry inspired carnival wear. It could be a tad Toy Story Green Army Men.
Also I'd want it in the east end loop of CS, to not disrup the chance of bigger and better expansion of the backstage area for future attraction. Another reason to put it on the east end would be because CS is lower there allowing the parchute drop to appear taller and stick out above it better.
I'd like the jumping Jellyfish kept in place. Because of the added distance between the rides it would help keep it from looking like a big and small version. This would keep the calm little kid attraction and allow for the new parachute drop to have some thrill for big kids.
Another Toy Story attractions I'd like could go in the east north east of Disneyland. Recreate the scence at the begining of TS3. South West desert scene with the DLRR going over a deep ravine. The backdrop of mountains would help blockout the view of the M&F garage across the street behind this area. The attraction here doesn't have to follow the story of Evil Doctor Porkchop as a train robber. It could be something brand new that uses Woody's Round Up.Be Cool Stay in School!
Next year I'm trying for a summer internship at Stark Industries.
