  • [Question] Carthay Question

Alright, today's my bday and I'm heading to disney as soon as my interminable work day is over. I have reservations for the Carthay but not enough cash really to do a full dinner.

So I figure I'll just do drinks and dessert. Would that be weird to take up a table just to do that? I have pretty bad social anxiety so I second guess everything. So would it be ok to just do that or will the waiter give me the stink eye when I say I'm just having dessert since it's such a fancy place?

There's nothing wrong with only having drinks and dessert. I plan on doing this next time I go to the Carthay.

Go for it. Your greenbacks are just as good as anyone else's. What you order is up to you. Enjoy your B-day...Carthay is awesome.

I had a question about the carthy circle. Do you need to make a reservation to dine there or is there also the option of seeing if there are any tables free? I know its supposed to be like blue bayou where reservations are highly recommended but you can also get lucky and a table might be free without a reservation

Thanks! I get so nervous about doing things out of the norm, but I really don't want to miss the opportunity of goin gto Carthay.

It's definitely worth a shot to try for a walk in. I follow DCA Today on facebook and they have posted quite a few times advising that walk ups are available for Carthay.

I actually made my reservation the very first day reservations opened. LOL I was not going to miss out.

I agree that you'll be fine even if you're there only for drinks and dessert. Love the service there once you're seated! Front desk, not so much.

I'm with you on the restaurant concept. It's a mind set thing. I've worked at a couple of restaurants too, and have served hundreds of people who order drinks and desserts. So, go and order the drinks and the dessert.
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

Have you seen the prices on the desserts, and the drinks, for that matter? :greedy:
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

Still cheaper than doing a full meal and drinks. I ain't broke, but I was going to be paying for me and a friend and two entrees, drinks, etc would have been a bit much.

I didn't even end up getting to go. My friend got sick and I don't drive so this is the first birthday ever that I have a disney pass and didn't actually go to disney. Sucks.

                        Re: Carthay Question

Well, when you do get to go, you can always order from the lunch menu. It's less expensive than the dinner menu, and if you're already doing drinks and an appetizer or dessert, it's more than enough food. I'm not sure that the upstairs desserts are served in the downstairs lounge. Perhaps someone can answer that. I recall there being a different menu downstairs than upstairs, which I think consisted mostly of finger food.
