Last night, a friend and I stopped in the park for a few hours around 9 or 10 PM. We rode a few rides and decided that we had time to hop in line for one more thing before the park closed. We both agreed on Peter Pan's Flight and headed that way from Adventureland.
On the way over, I mentioned to him about "The Andersons" - an older couple that comes into the park every night and rides Peter Pan last as the park is closing. I had heard about this here on MiceChat, but had never actually seen the couple. I went on to explain to him about how they will let everyone pass them in line, and if someone tries to get behind them after the fact, they may not be too kind to said person. Sure enough after about 5 or 10 minutes of waiting in line, in came the Andersons. They proceeded to chain themselves inside part of the queue so that others could pass them while they waited for the Cast Member to close the line off for the night.
Following them, a group of three got in the queue right as the line was being closed off. They were waiting for a fourth member of their group, and insisted (politely, I may add) that the Andersons go first. As their section of the line reached closer and closer to the loading area the Mrs. starting complaining and was trying to get the group to go ahead of them. This was happening as I was getting on the ride, so I just caught a second of it but she was starting to get a little angry and was causing a scene. The group was being polite and was extremely well mannered as they explained that it was important to their friend that they rode last for the night, opposed to the older couple who were acting like school children.
Needless to say, we got off the ride and waited near the exit to see what the final verdict was. The group got to ride last, and the couple seemed none to happy about it as they stormed off of the attraction and out of the park. I guess my point to this story (if any) is that there is nothing wrong with traditions, but there is no need to become irate and treat others with disrespect if you don't get your way.
Sorry for the novel. Has anyone else had any experiences with this at Peter Pan?
