It's just a question everybody relax , I see the new lands and the new rides and shows and they all seemed to be relevant to movies is that how DL is surviving today or is that's how the disney movies are surviving today by placing them in parks now and in the foreseeable future share your thoughts will there ever be a unique hit attraction in Disneyland?

Re: Is Disneyland still relevant today because of the movies or the other way around?
I think it's a mixture of the two. Before Disneyland, Disney was famous for its shorts and feature films. When Disneyland opened, people weren't going to just any old park. They were going to Walt Disney's park. Links to the film characters were expected, and several attractions featured them. Later, Disneyland built upon that reputation to include unique and innovative ride concepts and attractions. Today, new attractions seemed to be built primarily with a movie tie-in. It all stems back to what made Disney what it was in the first place, as well as what continues to be its main driving force: films. While this is a seemingly sound way to do business, I hope that Disney finds ways to implement fresh and new ideas that can stand on their own without the backing of a film.

I think both the movies and the parks stay relevant predominantly on their own merits. They synergy is nice and can add a little to it, but for the most part both the classic Disney films and the classic park attractions have stayed relevant simply because they were made to be high quality and are successful at relying on appealing elements that remain (mostly) timeless.

Disneylands relevance is unto itself. It needs nothing else to keep it relevant. There is no right or wrong in this debate. It is simply a matter of perspective.

I agree with the sentiments that it all works together. I think the unexpected ideas that Walt put into it are also a huge component. I know that Lincoln isn't a wildly popular attraction - but it is so important and vital to the overall atmosphere. I miss that knack that Walt had for seeing something intriguing and then recreating it in the park - the Matterhorn, New Orlean's Square, etc. He could bring things to people's lives that they never knew they were missing but were well appreciated. I wish some of the newer ideas weren't only movie tie-ins but think outside the box and give us a fresh concept too. jmo.
