I'm a big fan of horror, and I've always liked when disney tends to stray into darker themes with their attractions. What are some of your favorite scary attractions?

It's a small world after all...

It's a small...

Please don't make me go through again.
:beg:
Naw, just kidding, I love It's a Small World.
In all seriousness, however, like mick said, most of the rides are usually awe inspiring or really really creepy, but not spooky (Except for Ghost Galaxy, but that is just one single quick one). Ghost Galaxy uses a literal jump scare, ToT and EE use the thrill scare factor, and the Mansion/Manor use the creepy spook. So technically all the rides you have in the poll are scary, just scary in their own definition.
However, my closest and favorite spooky attractions would have to be Phantom Manor or Tower of Terror.
Total Tender Rides: 20
Total Lilly Belle Rides: 9
Total Dapper Days Attended: 2
Total Mark Twain Wheelhouse Rides: 5

Tower of Terror for me. Haunted Mansion is definitely right below it but what gives ToT the edge for me is that it is a consistently creepy and spooky attraction from the second you start approaching the building. Haunted Mansion definitely has a spooky introduction, first act, and finale but the whole second act is silly and fun, definitely a departure from the spookier beginning which kind of downgrades the whole "spooky" factor.
Tower of Terror is the whole package. I've only been on the one in DCA and I love it. As soon as you pass the Hyperion, the jazz becomes more eerie and distance and screams can be heard from the hotel. The hotel grounds are overgrown and showing signs of wear. I know many praise DHS ToT's better garden queue but idk I kind of like the more "manicured" yet overgrown look of DCA's as to me, it follows the same philosophy for the exterior that Walt wanted for DL's HM. The lobby is dusty and full of cobwebs; it looks like everyone just immediately left or disappeared. And that doll *shudders*. The library has the creepy artifacts and spooky TV introduction. The boiler room is creepy sensory overload. The dramatic lighting, the flickering lamps, the dripping sounds, the glowing furnace, the ghostly radio, the girl crying in the wall...amazing show. For first timers, the boiler room really ups the anticipation and heightens the senses for the ride. And then there's the ride...the ghostly apparitions, starfields, and of course free-falling elevator. This ride builds on the creepy factor from the moment you first hear the area music...it heightens it as you move through the queue and really gets the heart pumping once you're on the ride.
I think Indy should be on this list too. It's a pretty creepy and spooky attraction.Last edited by SoCalFan; 07-15-2012, 08:47 PM.

Matterhorn, Pirates, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain: because of the "chain lift". That always makes me take a deep breath and sit very still, hoping nothing happens. (I don't do Screamin').I am old. But still love Disneyland.

Re: Favorite spooky disney park attraction.
One of my favorite experiences was being the last in line for Haunted Mansion right before closing at midnight. My girlfriend and I purposely "straggled" behind after leaving the portrait elevator. We then saw the other portrait room at the bottom was open and dark and we went inside for a minute. Very creepy. We then rode the ride with nobody else around. Definitely made for a different ride experience surrounded by empty cars and hearing nothing but the sounds of the ride. Made me appreciate what a great job they did in creating that atmosphere.
