  • [Chat] Am I a baby for crying at the countdown?

    Alright, I cry at anything/everything that has to do with Disneyland. As do many of you. :blush:

    But this is a little extreme, if I do say so myself.

    They let us into Main Street, past all the shops, all the way up to the hub for Magic Morning on June 15th.
    (I was hoping to get on the Matterhorn when it reopened...fat chance).

    They asked us to please walk when it opened.

    They did the countdown

    10, 9, 8, 7,6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,

    and then the music Zippadeedoodah came on through the speakers and a swarm of Mickey Mouse hats and hyped up people, children and adults alike, ran as fast as they could in every direction.

    The walking instructions were pretty much ignored, except for some people including me and my boyfriend, although none of the cast members seemed to care, they thanked us for walking.


    And something hit me. Like it often does in Disneyland...

    when they cued that song, Zippadeedoodah, and all the people started excitedly running, that's all it took. I was holding back tears so hard but I couldn't help it. My boyfriend is used to this by now, me crying at Disney things, but even this took him bu surprise. He started laughing hysterically and asking why I was crying when Disneyland just opened.

    I couldn't really explain it to him, but that moment had felt like a movie to me. Like almost lmost like one of those singalong videos I used to watch when I was little. Maybe that threw in a little nostalgia for me there.

    I'm not quite sure what it was. Just so many people excited for their day and the music and the everything and yeah.

    It was too much to handle me emotions just took over. People being happy really does make me happy, I suppose is what it comes down to.

    Disneyland wouldn't be the same without being surrounded by ecstatic people.

    Not at all. Tears of joy do not make one a baby.

              Don't worry, you aren't a baby. What is childish about feeling deep emotion (joy) at something that makes you happy? In this world where cynicism is considered 'cool' by some, isn't it wonderful to be one of the ones who feel heart's joy at simple things? I'd much rather go through life crying tears of joy than tears of boredom.

                Disneyland is one of those few man-made places in the world that can be truely magical. I teared up once during the Parade of Dreams a few years back, as well as during the 50th fireworks. You are not alone. There are moments for me during nearly every trip to DLR that send chills up my spine and make me a bit misty-eyed.

                  Few things stir up a rush of emotional overloads as Disneyland moments for me. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND!!

                    i usually cry the whole way down to disneyland...thats why i cant fly anymore.

                            Had to listen to Zip A Dee Do Dah because of this thread. Got chills and a little teary eyed thinking about walking down Main Street. Know how you feel, OP.

                                      OP: while I haven't had that moment at DL, I did a full-on sob when I went to Paris for the first time (I had waited 25 years)... I totally understand.

                                      As for the vid above, there were some very big babies... in strollers. Srsly, why would you cram a kid into such a small stroller? (TP 5:55, right up front near the camera).

                                        I was listening to a DL podcast today and the audio for RSR came on. When it got to the part where the score "swells" (the waterfall) I just started crying right there in my car driving down the street. :lol:
