  • [Question] Recurring Disneyland Dreams

There's been several dream topics before, but I made this one because I keep having these weird dreams where I'm on one of the Disneyland rides that's celebrating a grand reopening after a refurb and it turns out that a humongous drop was randomly added in the middle of the ride during the refub. It's like my dreams are playing off the "they added a loop joke" and combining it with my fear of falling. Usually I end up jumping out of the ride vehicle right before the drop. So far it's been Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Indy, and it's a small world.

There's also the ones everyone probably has where you get stuck at the main gate or encounter obsticles on the way to the park.

I've had dreams where I'm in the park, but it's all different. It's like I realize it's different, but at the same time I don't.

When I was working at the Blue Bayou, I often dreamt that I was alone working all of the positions, and that the restaurant was full of people wearing Mickey Ears hats and that the line to the restaurant was very long. Everyone, though, was patient and just talking or reading their menu.
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

Yea, I've always had dreams of a different kind of Disneyland. At first, I would think, "Wait, this isn't Disneyland." But as the dream progressed, my mind would start to think that it actually was, and when I woke up, it was the weirdest thing O.o.

I have had variations of a recurring dream for many decades. I am at Disneyland, but the rides are all laid out differently and you can usually walk alongside most of them, like Jungle Cruise has docks going into each scene, the canoes are right next to a walkway, etc. But the ending is always the same. There is a new exit in Fantasyland but once I went outside, I was in a residential area and there is no evidence of the Park. I would walk for blocks and blocks trying to find Disneyland, but it wasn't there any more.

I had a dream where I was on the Jungle Cruise. The boat capsized, but we all just continued on the rest of the ride. Of course, t he ride was all different.

I had one recently that when you entered Main Street, you had to sign up for a 2-hour work detail. Little jobs all over the park, like pulling weeds, washing windows, one was operating the lights in the Golden Horseshoe, and for some reason Mr. Lincoln needed to be shaved every 4 hours. I couldn't decide which job to sign up for, but a cast member dressed as Tinkerbell was standing there and said to me, "Don't worry, they're not going to hold you to it. Just write your name somewhere. Nobody's going to come after you and force you to do it." So I signed up for Haunted Mansion Assistant for 2 hours because I thought that would be fun. But I woke up and never got to do it.

These are interesting. Sometimes I try to think about Disneyland and/or watch some videos from the park before bed in the hopes of dreaming about Disneyland. It rarely happens, but when it does, I cannot get to the the park. I can't recall a time where I was successful, it really seems every. single. time. things just keep happening/going wrong and I never get there. I wonder what it all means, lol!

That is the best thing ever. It's really cool to know that I'm not the only one who has those stress dreams where nothing goes right at Disneyland (assuming I actually get in).

                        Re: Recurring Disneyland Dreams

I had one a couple years ago, which I described on another thread here, that Disneyland was as big as Anaheim and had high-rise buildings that people lived in, even though the rent was incredibly expensive. It was way too big to walk around in so most people hired one of the Main Street vehicles to take them around. All the drinks were free anywhere, but you were expected to tip whoever gave it to you heavily, and they kept track of your tips. In some places they had artifacts from the "old Disneyland" such as the pirate ship that used to be in Fantasyland, but it was roped off and you couldn't go onto it. To get to Adventureland you had to cross this overgrown ditch and hack your way through it with a machete, the poor lady in front of me kept saying, "I am never coming here again. Never!" and I offered to help her get through it but she ignored me.

The strangest dream I had was that Tomorrowland was restored to it's 1970s glory with the exception that Star Tours was on the right and ATIS was on the left. Every other ride was intact and running. Peoplemover, Mission to Mars, Rocket Jets, CoP, etc. It was so real looking that it was scary. I wish I would have it again.

The second dream involved a dark ride and my wife, but that's not appropriate here.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

I always have dreams that I win a ticket to Disneyland or something but encounter tons of obstacles usually on the freeway or in the parking lot but just as I am about to enter the park I wake up.

Yeah the "can't get in the park" dreams are the worst. In the ones where I actually make it into the park I always get stuck on Mainstreet the whole time for some reason.

This is the first time I've ever heard of someone happy that they had nearly two weeks until going to Disneyland!

That's usually how mine are. Sometimes extinct attractions that I never experienced are there, and I get to go on them. Of course, I don't truly know how they compare to the real ones since I never experienced them. I had a dream about TLM before it opened, and it had Johnny Depp in it (no joke). In each of these dreams, though, the Disneyland I'm experiencing is unlike the real thing, but that doesn't cross my mind while I'm dreaming it.

I used to dream about going to Disneyland but it was entirely indoors in a mall-type structure with the ride entrances being in the store fronts. This wouldn't be that odd except that my subconscious has made Disneyland this way for about 20 years now about twice a year or so.
