  • [Idea] Marvel 3rd Park Could Feature USA, Japan & Animal Heroes & Villains ; + WestCot

I've been contemplating the types of attractions that might be featured at DLR's future Marvel superhero third theme park. The more one thinks about it, there are so many possibilities. Personally, I would like to see the park follow the Disney basic theme park model, and have an entry street, with lands hubbing off of it. Most of the lands would mainly represent attractions based on Marvel properties. These lands would fan out into Super Heroes, Super Villains, Japan Heroes, and even Marvel Animal Heroes. Apart from the Marvel lands and attractions, it would be great to have one or two areas that feature attractions that are based on the long awaited WestCot.

For an overall name that takes all the above into consideration, I'm thinking that MARVEL DIS*COVERYLAND would be apropos (with the DIS* part being a nod to Walt). Here's what I have in mind for the park name along with the names of each land:

    MARVEL DIS*COVERYLAND

    MARVEL STREET
    SUPERHERO CITY
    VILLAINS LAND
    KYOUTO PLANET
    MICKEY'S POWER MOUSE ISLAND
    FUTURE WORLD
    MANY NATIONS BLVD

Here are a list of possible attractions for each of the lands/areas. Some of the attractions would be major or e-tickets, while others would be simpler midway type rides. No telling how many or how few attreactions that Disney would desire to place in the third gate, so I just invisioned attractions (mainly rides) that reflect a wide range of genras. Although, I didn't name shops and eateries (and not much in the way of shows) as per land, they would definitely exist throughout the park. Please let me know if you like and/or dislike any of my concepts, and aprise us as to any concepts that you might have of your own.

It is important to note that I prefer to use the old Project Gemeni "Discoveryland" name to replace the entire WestCot moniker, as well as to refer to the entire park as a Dis*coveryland of sorts. Without further ado, here we go:

    MARVEL DIS*COVERYLAND

    MARVEL STREET

Shops, restaurants and entertainers representing the Marvel universe.
Marvel Dis*coveryland River is near the entryway, along with Marvel Street. The river goes goes around the park's perimeter.

Avengers: Ultimate Confrontation (utilizes Forbidden Journey type of
    ride technology)

Uncanny X-Men (similar to IOA Spiderman)

Mighty Hammer of Thor (classic midway Hammer ride)

That is really creative. Good work!

I think an immersive dark ride that resells the Dark Phoenix Saga or another classic story arc through animatronics would be great in there somewhere too.

Thanks Calsig! I consider that a tremendous compliment. I brainstormed for quite a while, butit was fun.

I think the Dark Phoenix saga is a Marvel angle that would fit best in Villans Land. This would be what I would call more of an "eclectic E-Ticket I'm invisioning a motion simulator ride that could be easily be reprogramed to keep up with character evelopments.

You have some neat ideas here for sure. A little unrealistic in terms of the number of attractions, that would be a huge park. And in my opinion, too heavy on thrill rides with little connection to their source material and not enough Disney or original attractions. I'd enjoy many of these rides, but I'd cut a lot of them out too if it were up to me. I also am not really sure about the mixture of some things and why they are in the same lands. Interesting ideas and nice effort to come up with so many ways to incorporate Marvel properties into a park. Several do have major potential.

Some neat ideas here, but (as said before) there isn't enough space for all those attractions and lands you've listed (cut out World showcase and Many Nation Blvd. and there might be enough room, since they don't exactly fit in with the theme of superheros). Just to let you know, I'm also working on my version of a superhero park w/ the Incredible and Fab. 5 (to not bring up any controversy when &/or if I post it). Anyway, great ideas, just needs a little down sizing.

The info released about the Marvel park said that it would be heavy on rides that are for teens and adults....translation: Six Flags thrill ride fare. Like you Uncle Bob, I too hope that Disey will keep these to a minimum, and concentrate on the more family oriented Dis/Marvel themed rides/attractions. I'm honored that you see a lot of potential in several of the concepts.

I realize there are likely too many rides here to fit into a third park. I'm mainly seeing which attractions MCers like most. On the other hand, Disney has already suggested that it has enough land that it can free up for a park. Perhaps upon further examination, Disney will find additional land - including developed properties it can purchase for redevelopment. Whatever the case, you are right that the number of rides that I have lited would need some downsizing.

I listed/suggested the EPCOT related attractions as there are many West Coast Disneyland Resort lovers that have longed for a traditional high caliber themepark like EPCOT or Disney Sea. The odds of getting a fourth DLR park are likelyslim to none over the next couple of decades. So, I look I this as our last chance to at have some of these fantastic attractions.

Look forward to seeing your Superhero park concepts, Right Ear. If I've influenced you, I am quite flattered.

Awesome! You're the first to directly mention one of my ride concepts from Mickey's Power Mouse Island. The Brood are an evil, hostile alien species controlled by one mind (kept and protected by their empess) intent on traveling the universe and conquering other planets.

The giant whales (whale-like Acanti) and sharks (shark-like Starsharks) are teir manippulated and misused docile Marvel pets that act as the Brood's living starships.

It would be great fun to have a Space Mountain-like attraction with a storyline that would have Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisey and Goofy (and their faithful friend Pluto) taking on the roles of Marvel super heroes (also assuming super powers), fighting off The Brood, and setting the space whales and starsharks free!

Instead of generic Disney versions of Marvel characters for the Mickey area, why not use Disney's own hero backlog? Supergoof, PK (Donald's superhero alter ego), The Incredibles, Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck would all be prime attraction material

Great idea, FigmentJedi! I'd forgotten completely about the Gargoyles. They are awesome, plus some. I used te Incredibles in an attraction concept. But, attractions featuring the Gargoyles, Darkwing Duck and Supergoof would be great. In fact, it might be fun to put them up against the Brood that I mentioned in my previous post...along with the Incredibles.

I'm extremely touched over this high compliment. One never knows, perhaps I will play a significant future role in getting a new theme park going. If I ever do, I would want you to be a top level manager on both sides of the stage.

Your commendation of my themepark Superhero/WesCot idea is quite kind. A great big thank you, BugSam! Perhaps Disney officials will read the thread and head my advise that they will need to go toe to toe with the competition (primarily Universal) with repect to innovative ride technology. Also, it wouldn't hurt Disney to include elements of EPCOT and Project Gemeni in our very own WestCot. The time to plan is now!

Indeed! Disney does take a look at Forums like these to tell you the truth I have a friend who is Friends with Steve Davison(Creator of World of Color) because of a forum & a Video Game.
