  • [Fun] If you could be in charge of Disneyland's 100th anniversary?

I know this is way ahead and some of us might not see it but I though it would be fun. If you were in charge of making Disneyland's 100th anniversary what would you do?

    Me I would:

Start the day with a reenactment of the Disneyland opening telecast with the best actors possible for portraying Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, Ronald Reagan, and Walt Disney for the dedication. The parade would be as it was in 1955 characters and all (but the modern less creepy costumes). The realms would be dedicated as they were on opening as well as the remaining opening day attractions.

Special presentations of the original Golden Horseshoe Revue and Fantasy in the Sky fireworks.

Gun fights in Frontierland, and a Robin Hood or Three Musketeers show in Fantasyland to better fit the Medieval atmosphere.

Finally the one day return to service for the original Retlaw-1 Disneyland railroad coaches (possibly meaning a repaint of the Lillybelle to its original livery.

Well I hope this thread takes of and have a good time.

See ya walkin' right down the middle of o'l Main Street USA.

Refurbish all of the major attractions and freshen up the look of the park.
Give the Jungle Cruise boats their original striped canopies for the day.

I would do a special tribute presentation where Fantasmic was shown showing the opening ceremony and how Disneyland has changed over the years. There would also be a special fireworks show and the original Golden Horseshoe Revue would be brought back. Where possible, cast members would wear the original costumes from 1955.

I would give the whole park to a special guest that day. Oh, and I'd make sure that special guest would be me.

I would get rid of Fastpasses and forever ban them.
"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

Re: If you could be in charge of Disneyland's 100th anniversary?

I would lower the admission prices for all 4 Disney Parks in Anaheim to the 1955 admission price. I would also have the one retro attraction chosed to be rebuilt in the original Disneyland offically opened to the public. Everything would be cleaned, polished, refurbed, repaired and repainted by the 100th Anniversary. I would offer all people who were at the 1955 Grand Opening VIP treatment: one week at the Disneyland Resort and free room suite for the person and their guests, permanent admissions to all 4 Parks, all meals, drinks and souviners complementary permanently too, and a special window on Main Street. And a special 100 hours of Disneyland Resort where all resort Parks, shops and restaurants will stay opened.
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

This would be awesome! And they have the technology now as seen at Coachella with Tupac.

I'd maybe even have him strolling down main street. (Walt, not Tupac)

If I were in charge for the 100 year anniversary, I would finally get around to making the gas cars in Autopia electric, while driving to the park in my electric hover car.

If the admission price was as low as the 1955 price, I wouldn't be surprised if Dumbo had a 3 hour wait time.

                      A few ideas:

Bring out every single character the park has a costume for, and have them walk around like normal guests. Have guests who came that day, leave a small fingerprint on a small cement wall (maybe 3 feet?) that would wrap around the entire park.
                      Fear of the unknown.

They are afraid of new ideas.

You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.

I bet the one-day, one-park in the future will be close to the $200 mark.

That being said, lower it on the 100th anniversary to the "commemorative" $100 ticket

                        Disneyland - 1982 to Present
                        Walt Disney World - 1996, 2011
                        Tokyo Disney Resort - 2013
                        Hong Kong Disneyland - 2013

I love this idea. I also think any remaining opening rides should be restored to their original condition.

And since the 100th is in 43 years, I guarantee that a single park will be more than $200.

A hologram Walt would definitely be amazing. Would you like to see any other holograms in the park? Maybe some fairies?

But, anyway, there's no telling how technology and society in the future will be like. Heck, a Megaquake will probably devataste the resort first.

Restore Pirates of the Caribbean, Small World, Submarine Voyage, and Tom Sawyer's Island/Frontierland back to their original concepts.
