[Chat] Disneyland a 10/10 for the last 3 weeks?

Ok, so I always read the weekly Disney Updates here on the site..and every Monday for the last 3 weeks it has said Disneyland and DCA at at 10/10 in crowds.....

I have gone 4 days in the past 3 weeks and I can say that this summer to me has felt soooo tame compared to other's I have been to.

The line for Indy and Space never get the bad until later in the day (usually after it breaks down meaning hours of FP ticket have to be used late)

Also just in general, the amount of people in the park just does not feel as bad as during Christmas time...I don't know does anyone agree with me?

If these are what days are like on a bad day....may I can't wait to go on good days on the off season

We didn't think the crowds were bad at all when we were there. Monday was the worst but the weekend was the best, and it was June 15 & 16. We were also there on Tues the 19th and Wed. the 20th and each day got better.

it's probably because touringplans are still tweaking their crowd logic after cars land opening. Al had mentioned a few weeks ago that even TDA was not expecting DCA to soak up so many guests.

i could speak from experience, the past few saturdays with full block outs in effect have been great and manageable. not a 10/10 for sure.

The 10/10 is not even close to correct. The Parks have been quite pleasant the past 3 weeks with the only exception being Cars Land. Even that, sans the Racers, has been doable. I'd call it a 7/10.

Our "10's" last Saturday, Sunday, and Monday were infinitely more pleasant than our "3's - 6's" back in May.

Touring Plans expects 4/10 when the SoCal & Select APs are unblocked in August??????

Cars Land will go to... eleven.

I've noticed the same thing for the past few weeks. We'll be there next week so I've been checking on some of the wait time apps. I haven't noticed many outrageous times (except RSR, of course). I've definitely been a little skeptical of the 10/10 as well, so it's great to read some posts confirming my suspicion.

Yeah...I went last friday. At around 3-6 PM the line for indy was 20, the line for star tours and space mtn were both 30. Haunted mansion and pirates were basically walk-on as was jungle cruise. it was insanely good.

I have no official comment because, whenever I do, the general consensus is:

Basically, people just accept that the numbers are never correct, even though it's a paid service.

TP use 10/10 to mean it ranks in the top 10% of the 365 days of the year. 9/10 to mean the 2nd busiest 10% of the year. 8/10 for the 3rd busiest 10% of the year.

It seems they wanted to be careful that they don't underestimate things. Of course we all know 10% of 365 is 36.5 and they have predicted more than 36.5 days this Summer.

If a predictor is based on 10/10 being 10% more busy than 9/10 it's very inaccurate. Is Disneyland busier when CS has a 45 minute wait or a 45 minute wait? Wait times are the way we usually judge crowds. CS can be 45 minutes tomorrow with all trains running, and on September 12th a very low attendance day, when they only have 2 trains running being loaded on one side. It can work the same with waits to eat or shop when they only run 1/2 the cash registers in slow periods.

The best way is to count the number of people coming into the parks. Who knows those numbers? Disney does.

Disney is expecting crowds to drop a little in the 3rd week of August. The hours on the 13th to 17th drop an hour in DL only open 8 to 11. Then back up the next week to full 8 to 12 hours on the 20th through 24th when APs are unblocked. Then on the 27th a bigger crowd drop with 9-10 hours in both parks.

My personal experience is that Disneyland has not felt as crowded this Summer as it was during Spring Break time. And I too have found Saturdays lighter than weekdays. I tell GP people this and they are amazed. Summer Saturdays were routinely considered the busiest, most miserable days for decades and to be avoided at all costs.

I cannot help but wonder if this could be due to the plain and simple fact that a lot of people are fed up with huge crowds and long lines, and they're not going on Saturdays anymore, or maybe not going at all.

I don't have the answer, but I do know that the crowds have caused me to cut back my trips from several times a year to just once a year these days.

Plus Cars Land pulling a lot of people into DCA. I haven't had a pass in ten years but I suppose I picked the right year to get one.
