The only thing that reminds me of the park is the off-ramp and TDA building. Other than that, you can't see much of DLR from the freeway.:meet: Because Bert Said So! :meet:

Going North, I notice the Matterhorn and I always think "people are inside there, right now". Going South, I try to look into the roundhouse for the Monorails (you pass right next to it) and see if any are inside that I can see, if I can see one, I think about the other two colors that are out gliding around the park with the guests.

I usually notice the Hollywood Tower Hotel, Space Mountain, and the Matterhorn. Sometimes I can see Mickey's Fun Wheel and Monorails inside the roundhouse. And, if I look in just the right spot at just the right time, I can see one of a small part of the Castle.

I am not local enough to be driving past that area unless going to Disney, but its the Matterhorn I notice, and when a kid always knew were almost there when we saw the mountain. I am always going North from San Diego.

As a kid, it was always Matterhorn. Unfortunately, glimpses of Disneyland are harder to see nowadays. Now, I usually see TOT, or sometimes still, the Matterhorn, but not nearly as clearly as I used to. Of course, that big ol' green building is the most obvious.
what do I think about if I'm not going to the park? Usually something along the lines of, " If only..."http://micechat.com/forums/disneylan...oto-heavy.html

All of the above.
But being a local there's one thing I always look for in this area, especially during baseball season. And that's to look over at Angel Stadium to see if the halo on the Big A is lit up. It's been a tradition for many years that if the Angels win a game they light it up. If not then it means they lost.

When I was young and we were driving in from Modesto on I-5, we would play "I See the Matterhorn." Now, it is more difficult to see, but I always look for it if we happen to be NOT going there, which is rare. lol. I can see ToT, which disappoints me as I would rather the Matterhorn be more prominent.
And I think I would rather be going there than wherever we happen to be heading.sigpic

A bonus when I see the fireworks show from Disneyland when driving by. And at the right moment, I can see a Monorail glide by through a narrow street by the Howard Johnson motel. The timing has to be just perfect.I am old. But still love Disneyland.

That's the same with me. I think because there's that feeling of "if only..." that I mentioned earlier. I find that if I'm not going, but only going past, it becomes more magical and mysterious, since it's unattainable for the moment.http://micechat.com/forums/disneylan...oto-heavy.html

I hate it when I am on the 5 when the fireworks are going on. Most people slam on their brakes and it's apparent that they are watching them. Dangerous situation!Last edited by explodingboy; 07-19-2012, 08:30 AM.
