  • [Idea] Toontown's Gotta Go and expansion of Fantasyland should commence at once!

it's been 30 years years since the last Fantasyland renovation via 1982 and it's 2012 time for a new fantasyland here's my idea first off toontown gone I know people love roger rabbit ride and can stay as it is the the corner of fantasyland but the rest of toontown gone and expand Fantasyland this would mean closing down all of the rides for as long as they need there and expanding them starting with The sleeping beauty caste tear it down (i know this won't be popular with any people) and make it bigger via the castle there making at shanghai Disneyland not as big but no to small either, I was looking at the pics of the disney gallery of the castles and got this idea so everybody please relax ,
and alsop expand the rest of fantasyland via the florida expansion by removing toontown and fantasyland theater and the storybook land ride and adding new enhanced rides I know this won't be popular decision here but if done right it would be great

    please share your thoughts!

What I'd love to see happen is....

Remove Toontown....relocate Toad there....use Toads old land to make Peter Pan get a Proper Q and make the ride 3 times are long

Then I'd add a Beauty and the beast ride (and restaurant) where Mickey was and still have room for one more dark ride
    Happy Halloween!!!

I am real hesitant when it comes to talking about removing Toontown. However, I do think it needs a serious re-working. Also keep in mind, that area closes for the night at 8 PM. If they were to get rid of it and expand Fantasyland, that portion of the park would still be closed early as well.

Toontown is one of the best themed areas of the park. I think it needs more attractions, not to be removed. Our Toontown isn't like Mickey's Toontown Fair in Florida, ours is a more complete environment.

I'm all for removing the theater IF a worthy attraction replacement is found. The festival area could always serve as a theater space if more were needed.

You're on your own with the castle though... as wonderful as some of the other castles are (whether real or imagined), nothing beats the nostalgia on Sleeping Beauty Castle.
        Disneyland Wooooh!

I can get on board to remove toon town and expand fantasyland.
But let's leave some of the opening day attractions alone.
I wouldn't touch the current fantasy land rides except maybe their queues.
And tear down the castle?! Blasphemy! Lol
I am jealous of some of the new stuff WDW is getting, but I wouldn't want DL to be a carbon copy. A new design.plan would have to be thought out. That includes fireworks stuff so it wouldn't have to close early. Just my 2 cents

My daughter loves ToonTown, and frankly I think it is well themed.

As for the Castle....we love it and I think it should stay the way it is now. Bigger is not necessarily better!

If the area become that poplar I'm sure they'd reopen it like they do Fantasyland

Or just move where the fireworks are shot off....if they added a new subs land this would have to happen if it was as like at something like Carsland

Still though, why remove it when all it needs is a little upgrading? We're not talking about the WDW Toontown here, we have a very well themed area that has a lot of potential.

I think a more realistic expectation of the future might simply include replacing the Gadgets/Goofy House/Donald's Boat area with the 7 Dwarfs Mine Coaster and leaving it at that. Thing is, that would open up way too many possibilities for closing the dark ride so...let's not go there.

Sleeping Beauty castle = 77 feet. Cinderella Castle = 189 feet.

However If you make Sleeping Beauty castle bigger then you run the risk of dwarfing the Matterhorn at 147 feet.

I do think tonetown needs a little work and its trolley needs to be returned, but the castle will never happen

Re: Toontown's Gotta Go and expansion of Fantasyland should commence at once!

I'm not seeing a reason to either remove Toon Town or expand Fantasyland other than FL is 30 years from it's last renovation. That, in and of itself, is not a reason to expand and renovate.

I'd like to hear a real reason why FL needs to be renovated. And why Toon Town must be removed.

I, personally, love Toon Town and, if it wasn't full of snot nosed rug-rats, I'd spend more time in there. And I especially love the initimacy of Fantasyland. An expansion, "just cause", would tend to ruin that. Actually, if you really felt the primal urge to expand FL, expand it into the old Motor Boat Cruise area and leave Toon Town alone.

                        IMHO, of course.
"In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends." - Anton Ego

Re: Toontown's Gotta Go and expansion of Fantasyland should commence at once!

I don't think that just because Fantasyland has gone 30 years without a "New Fantasyland" type redo that it needs to happen just for the sake of happening. If it works as it is, then just keep it. I'm all for improvements where they make sense, but I don't see Fantasyland being in need of it. Now, ToonTown, that does need some work. The only reason I ever go back there is for Roger Rabbit, and even then, I usually won't ride since the standby line gets so long. There are some good attractions for children, and the theming is great, but so much can be done by doing away with some of it and installing a great new ride. Will it ever happen? Possibly, but who knows when. I think there are other parts of the park that need work before ToonTown.

As for tearing down the Castle and rebuilding it even bigger... I don't think that's going to happen. Now, the Castle may have to be demolished and rebuilt at some point due to age and wear, but hopefully that'll be awhile off. I don't think it was engineered to last as long as most modern buildings are. But if and when that day does come, it'll likely be rebuilt just as it was.

The day that Disney has to rebuild or do any kind of major construction on Sleeping Beauty Castle is the start of a long drought of guests in the park and series of crushed dreams.

I'd keep it if they redid the coaster to be a bigger thrill and go from Goody's House to the old Tree house....and Mickey house became a ride (based off Mickey) but I don't see them putting any work into the land so I'd rather them put a new Subland that from the start is planning on being successful and has more then just meet and greets

This. You DO NOT remove an entire land. Especially one that is one of the best themed and designed the park has ever created. it also hosts Mickey's House and Roger Rabbit, which consistently have long lines. It needs a refurb, but never removable. Lands aren't temporary attractions.

Toontown today feels like an outdoor Chuck E Cheese to me. Roger Rabbit's the only redeeming part, IMHO. The rest of it stinks of Eisner.

I agree Toontown has very little to offer any more, Donald's boat has been gutted a long with chip and dales tree house. Goofy's bounce house is no more. Its a shell of once was, they either need to do all the house like mickeys or finally get rid of it all.
