  • New lights at Plaza Pavilion?

I was at the Park on Thursday, and there were long strings of very pretty, colored party lights strung from the roof of the restaurant out to the lamps around the patio.

Unfortunately, the construction walls were still up, but at night all the lights were lit up. It looks really great! (and I nice contrast to the formal setting of Plaza Inn)

Will it be a restaurant again or what? Anyone have news?
I think someone has left the shower running ...

I have to disagree, I hate how they look! It reminds me of the lights at DCA during Santa's Beach Party Blast thingy in Sunshine Plaza. The colors look tacky amid the glimmering white lights everywhere else on Mainstreet.

The bad weather has delayed the reopening of the Plaza Pavilion. It was supposed to open tomorrow but no new reopening date has been announced that I know of. There are strong rumors out there that indicate this facility will be a food location of some sort when it reopens. Certainly a new food facility will be needed if there are large 50th crowds this year as are expected. Anyway, the details are still very sketchy. We do know the Plaza Pavilion WILL NOT be the AP Processing Center when it reopens. That facility is relocating to the Main St Bank.

Tiki reopens on 3/12 (GREAT NEWS)

Aladdin's Oasis is delayed too, but will return as a storytelling venue with some minor upgrades to the decor on the inside (the biggest change is that the large fake Banyan tree has been removed)

That is all I know right now.

The construction walls around Plaza Pavilion came down last night. The kitchen area is completely gutted (ovens, stoves, freezers, and refrigerators removed). A restaurant looks to be a longshot...at least any time in the near future.

thanks for the update 10-8! Too bad about the kitchen info. This building is a prime location for something more than a pin trading patio or empty building. I was also thinking a deli type restaurant would be a great place to set p in the Plaza Pavilion. Deli food would be a nice change from the fast food offerings currently available.

The look like 1890's NYC lamposts, but scaled down of course.

Don't the rumors have the pavillion and courtyard becoming a turn-of-the century fair/market? Seems like a good way to theme a bunch of those vending carts into one area. Food, pins, etc...

They should have a Pollyanna fishing booth... and a dunk tank for Eisner.

And hey, they can even theme it to the celebration at $50 per throw. I'd buy a whole bucket of balls!

It will most likely look great at night. A good renovation in the works!

The walls were down tonight at Plaza Pavillion. It looks really good and the new colored lights really add to it! The building itself was still closed. They basically put the few pin carts that sat in front of the wall up on the patio now, but nothing new is there yet.

I also noticed tonight for the first time since I can remember, the popcorn cart that is always in the hub, across from Plaza Pavilion, was not there tonight! So perhaps they are getting ready to have various popcorn, churro, pretzel, and pin carts all on the Plaza Pavilion patio which has been rumored.

I hope not. That popcorn cart has been in the hub forever.

That is what I have heard also in that they are going to pull some of the ODV monstrosities and pin carts and relocate them in some form to the Pavillion.

The walls were down on Saturday and let me tell you the lights look horrible! Way too colerful for the White surroundings... Its too bright and looks like a tacky carnival area! I hope they switch to white bulbs!

I was scared the colored lights would look bad. Maybe they will be switched out after review.
