  • [Chat] Storybook/Jungle Cruise need new intercoms

The intercoms over which the skippers speak on these rides muffle their speeches so much that they are at times, inaudible.
Especially on the Storybook, where you've got (not to be mean, just the truth) high pitched, more nasally voiced women speaking the spiels. It is muffled even more.

Last time I was on the Jungle Cruise I could barely understand what they were saying.

Anybody agree that they should fix them?

It might be as simple as teaching people how to use them correctly. For some reason, a lot of skips practically make out with the intercom thing and it sounds muffled.

haha, I know what you mean
They should definitely teach them to use them correctly, maybe that's the problem.

I just always sit near the guide that way I actually hear them. Otherwise you are right it sounds like adults from Charlie brown and the peanuts cartoons lol

I agree -- I believe it's the technique, not the equipment, that is to blame.

I have to admit, most of the time, I could do without the spiels on Storybook. It often is more of a distraction (and sometimes, more of an annoyance) that takes away from the enjoyment of soaking up the wonderful scenery.

I think a pre-recorded spiel might be nice. And actually, perhaps a spiel-less ride would be OK , too. I think Disneyland Paris just lets the scenes speak for themselves -- with appropriate musical selections.

I feel that on storybook the skips are always talking too loud, yet muffled... Though on jungle they are just muffled and impossible to here if you sit by the engine... I like the pre recorded spiel idea or no spiel at all for storybook, just with some nice background music that goes to the movie your passing by. Though jungle needs to keep its skippers maybe just put a lot of sound muffling insolation around the engine area of the boats and add a lot more speakers on the boats.

Hey -- what about converting the jungle cruise boats to electric (like the Subs)? Of course, there could be a little sound effect of the "engine noise" added in -- but not enough to overpower the skippers...

While, they are at it, they can revamp the systems on the trams. Better yet, hire operators who can speak proper English. (No mumbling zone)

Yes, it's best to sit near Skip. And it would probably help a lot if they didn't make out with the mics x) But, there are much larger things needing to be fixed. Therefore, the intercoms may not be touched for quite some time.

Since my hubby has to use the handicap entrance, we always sit right next to the skipper, which I love because we can interact - if he/she is willing...

The few times I have gone without him and sat in the back, it was very difficult to hear. A new system or training might be a good idea.
