[Question] Any heightened security today at Downtown Disney?

Because of the recent tragedy in Colorado, I'm wondering if there been more police officers and security around than usual especially the movie theater in Downtown Disney.

Security checks were the same today. We went through them a couple times today. We've been here since Sunday and they've been pretty smooth.

I don't think security wouldn't be heightened at the Resort considering it wasn't when the Seal Beach incident happened, (that I know of) which was much closer to Anaheim than Colorado.

No one has stated such, the original poster was just curious being that movie theaters around the nation have heightened security in order to prevent those who might try to copycat the suspect behind this tragic event.

Anyways, I have heard that AMC Theaters throught the U.S. are prohibiting masks and costumes to those of you who are curious.

Only the governor and the president have authority over whether the flags are flown at half staff on short notice. By Putting "president" in CAPS, it seems like he's pretty satisfied that it was ordered came from the president.

I think you are right, it is a case where the precautions are being taken to prevent copycats, but also I think that it's about peace of mind. I'm about 15 miles from the theater where the shooting occurred, and I noticed a much stronger police presence in and around the theater. The police reaction was actually much stronger for Columbine than today.

And on the costume thing, there were several employees at my local AMC wearing costumes tonight, one even with Joker face paint. Don't know about customers, but if the employees are doing it, it sends a mixed message.

I do hope security was heightened at the DLR, if nothing else than to make people feel a bit safer at a time when we are perhaps looking over our shoulders a little more than normal.

I don't know about Downtown Disney, but I just saw it tonight at the Casino theater in Avalon and it was business as usual.

1) Makes sense in "major" cities to have a little extra police just in case someone else for some reason decides to follow him

2) Good to hear about the Flag...to me that means a lot when people who did NOTHING at all to be killed were honored

No, it isn't. Unarmed people are shot every 36 hours. Happened just yesterday in Anaheim, in fact, just a few miles from the park.
