[Chat] Characters you NEVER see anymore

As a kid,(born in 1973) I remember a number of characters in the parks that were quite prevalent, and often seen, but are hardly ever, if ever at all seen anymore. Here are a few notable ones...

All The Robin Hood characters
Bernard and Bianca from the Rescuers.
Scat Cat and his band from the Aristocats.
The Jungle Book characters, including Mowgli.
The dancing Hippos Ostriches and Alligators from Fantasia.

Can anyone supply pictures of any of these rarely seen characters. Has anyone spotted any of them lately?

ORGOCH: Ya don't see us Black Cauldron folk out no more, neither!

ORWEN: I conjured up a picture inside our crystal ball of Taran and Eilonwy from 1985 that someone had taken many years ago but don't know where it is now.

ORDDU: We once had photo's of the Return to Oz cast from Disneyland's Electrical parade but lost track of them. I recall a picture of Dorothy with Billina and also a picture of Tic Tok. It's a shame they don't have more characters out in the parks.

We saw baloo and king louie and Marie the kitten from Aristocats in WDW this summer. As far as DL goes I have only seen Baloo at Goffys Kitchen. I do miss the Robin Hood and Rescuers though!

All the movies you mentioned were released (in Fantasia's case, re-released) in the late '60s and '70s. When you were a kid, those were the most current characters.

Last time I recall Fantasia characters would have been 1993, last year of Very Merry Xmas Parade. However, the Osritches are still in Spectromagic, if it ever returns.

Bernard & Bianca are my most missed. I remember we did a character flood at the opening of Toon Town (I was a gas pump - recycled costume from the 80s) and they wanted to include the mice but it was determined the costumes were too far gone to bring out, even for that one day.

Rare characters have appeared in DCA's new "Dancin' With Disney" attraction. There's another thread that has a video showing Prince John, The Sheriff of Nottingham and Marie.

And Robin Hood and Little John appeared on the recent Modern Family episode set at Disneyland.

I'd love to see Roger Rabbit in the park!

Thumper and the other Bambi characters. It would be cool to see them.

And MALEFICENT! She is never around. I am really hoping they have worked out whatever her costume malfunction was, and she will make a return to Halloween Time this year.

I am going for Halloween time this year and maleficent is my favorite character. She is the only character pins I collect, and even my dog is named after her. I really really really want to see her this fall.

I saw Meleficent last in October. She creeped me out! Great acting. :vogue:

I saw a recent post on the Disney Parks Blog that had a picture of the Pinnochio crew from 1978 MK. While I had seen pictures of Pinoc, Geppeto, Honest John, Gideon and Stromboli before, I never knew that there was a Lampwick. Also the rubberhead versions of the dutch and french marrionettes were interesting.

Prince John and The Sheriff have been out latly over at DCA For the Dancing with Disney they where also out last year for Hollween time in the day time.

Daisy Duck have all been out latly as well part of Dancing with Disney.

Genie is starting to show up again over by Jungle Cruise where Aladdin and Jasmine building is at.

Counrty Bears have been out from what I hear over by Big Thunder Range and what I hear they are out only on the weekends.

Clarabell Cow & Horace Horsecoller have also been out over by Big Thunder Range.

Around April & May both Suzy and Purla from Cinderella have been out anywhere from the castle to Main Street.

Ones I never get to see are.

ORWEN: For all you Maleficent fans out there, you'll have to fly your broomsticks to Florida where you can see the old bat every day at the Magic Kingdom. She still does a stage show in front of the castle, there, called 'Dream Along with Mickey'. She says it keeps her busier than any other Disney villain around and also gives her a steady pay check. (Now if only they'd bring back poor old Merlin so HE could start supporting himself again!) Life's tough for the Disney characters and that's the truth!

That's what I heard about PUSH as well, but since I missed the chance to see him while I was at WDW in June, I'm bitter. DLR deserves it more to make our Tomorrowland more interesting.
