[Review] I was totally wrong about "Maters Junkyard Jamboree"!!!

When I first saw the testing of Maters I felt that it was just another Francis' Lady Bug Boogie and that there was no way it was worth the reported $100 million price tag.

Well, I'm still not sure it's worth $100 million but the ride sure is a heck of a lot of fun. The queue is totally Mater, the ride is thrilling enough for a person like me yet fun for kids.

In fact, I think I liked Maters more than Radiator Springs Racers, and it sure is easier to get on.

Anybody else have Maters totally surpass their expectations?

Thanks for posting your opinion. I have been on the fence with this ride ever since hearing about it. The videos I have seen don't make it look like something I would be interested in. After reading your post I think I may reconsider that viewpoint.

$100 MILLION? That is quite surprising considering it looks like a variation of the tea cups.

When I first saw Mater's, my first thought was "That will be fun when we bring the younger group with us". Then some friends who went to the preview before us said to try it, it was worth the wait... So we did. And it was! It is a close second to Racers. We like it better than Luigi's.

Mater is so much fun. You laugh the whole time your on it. I'm shock to say it however I like it better then Radiator Springs Racers. Mater is my fav and rsr is my fiancees fav.

Mater's is now one of those rides that I have to now ride at least once on every visit. Just they way it swings, my gf and I laugh the whole ride.

I love Mater's attraction, too! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I fell in love with it on the first ride-through! I only wish the ride time was a bit longer and there was something above the vehicles to give a bit more dimension to the attraction. Other than that, it's a great ride! The queue is insanely detailed and truly does feel like a real junkyard! I give it a solid 8/10! :-)

I LOVE Junkyard Jamboree. It's so much fun to be whipped around and watch other people get tossed about in their tractors. It doesn't look as fun from the outside looking in, but once you're on and it starts going, you really have lots of fun.

I don't have a degree in construction or the like, however I believe part of the reason for the huge price tag is due to all the demolition that had to be done to make way for the attraction. All of the farm stuff had to be removed, the various "a bug's life" characters had to be taken away, etc. Plus, there's all the electrical and plumbing underneath that probably had to be re-routed. All of those factors can drive up costs quickly. This is only an assumption, though.

I haven't been able to find the thread in a search but I remember the $100 million figure for Mater's coming up in the past. People with inside connections said that the real cost was nowhere near that much.

You'll have a blast! I was extremely impressed with Buena Vista Street and Cars Land! My personal recommendation is to avoid going up the "main entrance" first. Try avoiding the temptation and go through Grizzly Peak first when you get to the park. (You'll probably want to get a (Show)FastPass for "World of Color" first anyway.) Then make your way to Pacific Wharf and use that entrance for Cars Land instead. I found that entrance to be MUCH more impressive than the main one (not trying to put the main drag down, though). :-)

This makes me want to try it. I have also seen videos and it just doesn't look that interesting. But, it seems to be a huge hit!

Call me crazy but I've been saying this since Cars Land opened...I prefer Mater's over Racers. I went on it because the line was short and I could at least say I did it and gave it a chance, but it was so fun. It really whips you around and I enjoy the music, its so catchy that I find myself still singing it by the end of the day.

Trust me, everybody kept telling me how fun Maters was, I'd seen videos, watched it from the line, it didn't look like that much. But on it ... it's just a blast. It's really like a cross between a Tilt A Whirl and a Whip ... so Tilt A Whip?

It is "similar" to Francis' Lady Bug Boogie, but at the same time not. Just a fun ride and yes, a "must ride" on every visit.

^ Yeah, there are some Scrambler elements to it as well, not as intense as that though.

It's just fun, and that's just fine with me.

It is a fun ride. :-) I'm glad I was able to buy some of the songs from the attraction on the Cars Land soundtrack. I wish it had "Gad'Um" on it, but overall, I was happy to get the songs I got.

I don't think it's as good as RSR, but it's much better than Luigi's, and it's much more fun than it looks. I'm so glad I didn't skip it like I was thinking about doing! The soundtrack is also really fun as well!

I had a blast on Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, as did my wife and daughter. My wife is a tough sell on any new attractions but this was a winner for her. My daughter loved it as we whipped around and she slid on the seat. The singing was a great theme to the entire attraction. To be a tad hokie, it's a feel good type of ride. Big Bonus: I didn't get sick on it.
