  • [Question] A 2+ hour wait time in late September thru October 2012? (RSR "2nd Summer")

From another thread, I thought this topic needed its' own thread so more ppl could see it and comment on it.
If you have hard info or an educated guess/theory, plz feel free to respond! Many Thanks!

SIDE NOTE for anyone planning a fall 2012 trip...
...just as an observation, I am guessing that CL will have its' "second summer" in the fall. All of us who waited out the summer and/or postponed our winter and spring trips (since CL and BVS were not complete), we will descend upon the resort.

Anyone have a theory or an educated guess as to how this will play out or affect the resort? I still see many apps predicting fairly low numbers at the resort, esp DL. I have been tracking these numbers for about 2 months and there has been NO CHANGE. I have been looking since before the re-do was finished. CL, though, has numbers like the summer... it looks like, from a numbers' POV, that most everyone will be in CL/RSR. For example, Space on Sept 25 never gets over 30 min. But RSR achieves and stays at 120-150min within an hour of opening.

I have never, in my thirty-something years, ever seen traffic like this revolving around one section of the park well after the summer season has ended. I understand that it will be a popular section of the DLR, but I cannot fathom why it would still be *that* long of a wait. Anyone have insight to this, or are these paid apps just trying to cover their collective butts and warn us that it will be busiest at CL, even if a 2-3.5 hr wait is over estimating RSR mid-week, mid-Oct?

Indiana Jones was the same way when it opened. Crowds will start to die down in a year or so.

Same story with Nemo. I remember that having a LOOOONNNGGGGG line well into it's first September/Fall season.
Did you know that 87% of spoken statistics are made up on the spot?

It's going to be WORSE than Summer because the SoCal Ap's will be back in the park. For those of you delaying your visit to the "less busy" fall ... don't bother. Go now.

We rode Nemo a few months after it reopened and found that during the slowest times of Sept. and after lunch time, wait times were fairly short at around 45 minutes.
THe same was true of Star Tours last Oct. You had to hit it early in the morning or at select times in the afternoon. You just have to watch the rides and wait for a lull.
I'm hoping the same will be true for RSR.

I would expect that the normal fall "low"season will not be so low this year. Just speaking for myself I am travelingwith a group of close to 300 people from Canada who will be going to the parkon September 26 to October 4 for some California fun.

I have been to DL during this time of year before and it was quite nice...warmweather, short lines. However the more I research the more I am discoveringthat it's going to be quite busy, particularly in DCA. I hope Disney recognizes this and extends park hours during these weeks, but I am not hopeful on that.

I went on Nemo the winter after it opened and there was about a 15 min wait (this was midweek in mid-Feb).

My first ride on indy was in Jan (again midweek) of 1996, just 10 months after it opened. I waited about 30 min.

I guess RSR is just a whole diff game here. On the dates I have booked, the resort is at a 2/10 overall (and this is what we wanted), but like I said above, RSR is PACKED according to those apps! Yikes! There's no turning back now for us (my party) we are booked. There is a possiblity that I will head there this winter like I usually do, but even then, the Apps say that RSR is still over two hrs wait midweek in late February 2013 with an overall park crowd estimate of 1/10.

I believe it will be worse, Seeing that all the people with Socal AP's are chomping at the bit to get their turn to enjoy Cars land and RSR. My friend and his gf already have plans to go back on the very first day their passes are no longer blocked. I figure it would be around Feb. or March before we see the RSR lines drop under 1 to 2 hours.

An off-topic thought, but I'm waiting for the holiday season to see how DCA will decorate CarsLand. I think it ought to be looking great.
The wait times will level off. I think though this Christmas, you'll see 4 hour wait times for RSR.
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

So would you say that a family of five planning our yearly trip December 4-7 would do better to go now? Or people who are focused mostly on Carsland would do better to go now? We do want to see Carsland and ride the three new rides if possible, but we're hoping for crowds to be manageable in general through Disneyland and DCA during those dates. What do you think?

You all should be fine that week. I'm surprised all those park apps are estimating 2-2.5 hour wait times for RSR in Fall. I'd be in hysterics if those apps turned out to be correct.

I doubt that all that many people will pull kids out of school during the week to make it "as busy as summer" that's why we are going, we are pulling th kid out of school, but do most people do this?

This... this right here is what I banked on. We have no kids in our party until the First H'ween event. And that is predicted to be the busiest day of our trip (even before the event). I would guess that most ppl wouldn't do this, and the few that do are a big exception to the rule. These families will have such a small impact on the parks that I prob wont notice them... you will be that random group coming off Spcae while me and my party will be that random group going into the FP line with a wait of ten min. and very few other groups around any of us ...all of us happy as clams that we have more-than-enough-elbow-room for our respective trips.

Side note: my parents used to do this ALL the time for us. Our road trip would consist of who could do their assignments that the teacher gave for us the fastest on the way there. My mom would check it over later or also during the road trip. My point is that I was the odd-ball in my classes in this topic. Very few kids got to take trips during class time like my family. I know some ppl are so very against this (a whole diff thread).

Side note to my side note: I was always happy to read my required trip report outloud, esp when it involved recounting my family's steps at a themepark such as DL!!!

I used to get pulled out once a year to go to Disneyland...was awesome

Any maybe the lines on somedays will go down..but it will be more then an hour all day

Remember most AP's are adults so many of which will be going on those days...and wanting to go to Carsland

Some kids don't go back to school until the late end of September, so there is still a good chunk of time for them to get their last hurrah. I know of many kids who got out of school once or twice during the year to go to Disneyland. They usually skip for their birthday, but it does happen. Plus, college students have a much more lenient schedule.

There are year-round schools as well that people have to consider. No longer do you have the Labor Day - Mid-June school year as a universal rule.
