  • [Question] What part of the park is this?

Link to Google Maps: disneyland - Google Maps

There appears to be a big courtyard north of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that I just can't correlate with a location I know of in the part. It doesn't look anything like the Big Thunder Ranch (not that I can really tell where that is via Google Maps,) but I'm curious to know what this area is.

    Anyone?

Yea, they usually use it for school events and such, and award ceremonies.

Looks like the satellite images on Google are over 2 years old. Nice to know what that area is for, even if I don't know exactly what it looks like. Thanks folks!

Well, it sort of looks like that today - Just add a bunch of sail-style shade triangles rigged from the old "Center Stage" structure from HBoND Festival Of Fools in the middle (now just an open area with all the lighting above it) to the Stage and both sides, and they put in cable support poles around the perimeter.

It's got one quadrant still open to the Southwest toward the Tech Booth Tower, but they could easily fill that all in if they wanted to go totally covered like the Fantasyland Theatre next door.

They want to do something with the area, they need more benches and tables, and some nearby or ODV dining choices. Put in a Takeout Window at the BBQ or an ODV cart selling it.

I've steered well clear of the BBQ next door once they changed their sales method - "All you can eat" almost always ends up being "Far more than you should eat."

              They should bring that back.
