I was just curious as to whether the stacks of invalid fastpasses left on top of the machines all the time take a toll on the valid fastpasses output of each machine. I.e. if the machine prints a ton of invalid fastpasses would it have less valid passes to give out throughout the day?

Re: Does printing invalid fastpasses reduce the amount of valid passes given out per
I can assure you it does. Nobody can get FPs when they have to refill the machines more often because of wasted paper. This could mean 10 or 20 less FPs a day if the machines are busy went it runs out.Be Cool Stay in School!
Next year I'm trying for a summer internship at Stark Industries.

No, it's all computerized. The computer knows when the FPs are invalid and therefore the "ticket" is not entered into the "capacity".
Basically, the computer is spitting out an error to the user and basically telling you "I'm not going to count you because you made a booboo"DisneyTwins

So the machines get refilled? I was under the assumption all this time that they loaded the machines before the park opened and whenever the machine ran out of paper it ran out of FPs. Thanks for the info!

I've watched them load it before and basically they insert the block of tickets into a housing vertical-wise and then load the top tickets (face-up) into a feeder that's directly above the housing. I'm not sure if it's the same all over the resort but that's just what I saw at Indy.Many Bothans died to bring you these fastpasses.

How sad. Someone(s) voted this as a "bad" question (as in 2 stars). It is a good question, simply based on the fact that the OP didn't know the answer.
///5 stars///
Another question...
Does the computer know that the paper is out while I am trying to get a valid FP? As in, I insert my day ticket, no FP comes out nor any paper whatsoever, Can I get a pass at the next machine that does have paper? I would just do an experiement on my own, but I don't have the luxury of being to just hop on over there multiple times per year to wait for an empty machine.
My guess is that the system knows when the paper is out and it just wont read your ticket and/or there is a indication of some sort that would tell me ahead of time that this FP machine is "out of order".
Just curious... and yes, I too would like to see how this is done (re-fill).

the whole FP printer mech can be slid in and out. It's just a vertical feeder for the tickets.. and yes the machine would know it couldn't print a pass and you would just get one at the next machine.
The machine would probably just refuse to take the ticket in (turn off the insert motors).Check out my blog - Coreplex: Rambling from inside the Grid

Re: Does printing invalid fastpasses reduce the amount of valid passes given out per
Here's a thought that just came to my mind. Do Cast Members have the ability to override an "invalid FastPass"? Meaning, if the FastPass machine's ticket paper were to get jammed and torn, but actually did print a valid FastPass for a Guest, could a Cast Member simply strike a few keys or buttons and print a new, valid FastPass? Thanks!
