That is too cool. I'd really love to know what else Walt had in mind in '53 and what he had sketched in for that map.

Man, why'd it have to get in the hands of Glenn Beck?

Love to know the three banks who turned Walt down; must have gone out of business!

There were a number of establishments that turned Walt down; not sure if it was three, or if Walt was even there. To think that Walt himself hand-colored the drawings may be a mistake as well.

I wanna know why in the world did Disney or The Walt Disney Family Museum let this auction get away from them and have this priceless piece of Disney/Disneyland/Walt Disney history fall into the hands of Glenn Beck. This item was seen my Dave Smith in the 1990's so they obviously knew about it. It sold for $80,000.

                    Ugh....

                      Re: Original Disneyland Map.

Herb Ryman did say that Walt stayed with him at the studio all weekend and dictated everything that was in his brain while Herb sketched that map. Herb didn't say whether Walt colored it himself. I doubt that. According to Profiles in History, the auction company, there were three sets, one left with each of the three banks. The Disney Archives actually authenticated the package. It gives me goosebumps.

                          Re: Original Disneyland Map.

Regardless of political opinion, anyone can have a love of Disney memorabilia. I was surprised that he knew that much about Disney. I'd rather someone that actually know that much to have it than some person who doesn't know anything.

It's pretty sad when people don't see that the person as a human being just like the rest of us. We all have different political viewpoint, yet we all have the same passion. I'd trust a historical piece of memorabilia to anyone who loves the piece of history. I don't agree with the argument that he shouldn't have it just because his opinion is different than yours.

If I don't agree with your political viewpoint, I would sell you a historical piece if you loved it that much.

At the end of the day, I would love to sit and have a beer with Bush and/or Obama and just talk about interests in hobbies and collectables, why not? We all have passions that have absolutely no political meaning whatsoever.
