• [Question] Billy Hill & The Hillbillies

I'm seeing conflicting information about Billy Hill & The Hillbillies on the Disney website.

Are they still performing at the Golden Horseshoe or are all their shows now at Big Thunder Ranch?

Also I don't see them listed on the Saturday Sept 1st calendar. Do they only perform specific days of the week now?

From what I understand, Billy Hill & the Hillbillies are now performing at Big Thunder Ranch and that Ragtime is now played at the Golden Horseshoe. Not sure how long this will last but here's hoping they make it back to the Horseshoe soon!

Re: Billy Hill & The Hillbillies

The Billies were moved to BTR for the summer because it is a larger space and DL thought it would help relieve some of the crowd congestion that they were expected this summer. They will remain there until around the middle of September and then they will go back to the 'shoe. They also bumped them up from a 5 day a week show to a 7 day a week (Billy Elvis and Billy Fiddle stay on their normal Wednesday - Monday schedule with the 2 alternates. 2 different leads come in for the Tuesday and Wednesday shows - the lead for these days is one of the Laughing Stock performers). The Laughing Stock in currently doing all their shows in the Horseshoe. As for the schedule on the website - they usually don't post times for the billy's or the laughing stock shows until closer to the actual calendar date.

Re: Billy Hill & The Hillbillies

There is an update to this thread..... Billy Hill and the Hillbillies will be staying at the Jamboree location through the Halloween season [as the Haunted Billy Hill and the Hillbillies] and possibly into the Christmas season, if it suits managements needs. They spent a week in rehearsals with all the various Billys and their subs and have had a show prepared for them to perform. They were moved to help draw crowds to an under-utilized area of the park. Every day, the show gets tweaked slightly to drop unfunny elements and add newer funnier replacements. There is no confirmed date as to when they will return to the Golden Horseshoe, but I'm sure as the holiday season draws near, we will know more.

Last word from "Lead Billy" Kirk Wall is that they'll be out there until sometime after Xmas. He adds that he and the band actually prefer the sound quality they can produce outside as opposed to the Horseshoe.

I miss them in the Horseshoe but it isn't abnormal they play out there. For those of you haven't gone over to see them at the ranch for Halloween please do. They have a great set list to play with this season, plus they scream at the train as it passes by.

I actually prefer them at Big Thunder Ranch. Roomier and the sound quality is better.

So when it rains during the winter will they still perform their show? I know it's shaded from sun but I don't think those covers can handle the rain.

I'll agree that it has it's advantages to being outside, better sound and more space. But indoors takes care of the entire weather element although they can be limited by space.

Good question. Next time I see Kirk I will ask if there is a Rainy day plan in place.

There was just something special about seeing Billy Hill & the Hillbillies inside the intimate confines of the Golden Horseshoe with the place jammed to the rafters with people and smell of cooking grease permeating the air. A good time had by all.
