  • [Fun] Old/Abandoned Traces of Disneyland

Anyone know of any traces of rides, attractions, signs, restaurants, logos etc. in Disneyland/DCA/Resort that are no longer in use, should not be there, and are lying vacant and unused? Anything visible of past relics of Disneyland that have since been shuttered but are still easily visible to guests. I'm not really talking about nods to past attractions but rather things that Disney has left in the parks that have not been removed for some reason or another. Photos appreciated!

I know the old track for Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland is still along the Rivers of America. You can see it on the Mark Twain and you can see the two tunnels from Big Thunder Trail! Sorry I don't have a picture

Obviously the PeopleMover tracks. I know a lot of the signage in Downtown Disney still uses the resort logo from when California Adventure opened ( http://www.hospitalityonline.com/bra...gif?1329184356 ).

Don't forget the old Skyway platform in Fantasyland, up behind Casey Jr.

If I remember correctly, at the entry to Tomorrowland, on the side of the building flanking the entrance, you can see the patterns indicating snowflakes, referencing to Adventure Thru Inner Space, which was there before Star Tours.

Does Innoventions count as being used? Otherwise, America Sings.

Swissapolka record at Tarzan's Treehouse is an homage to the Swiss Family Treehouse.

Pond by path in back of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the old Bear River from the Mine Train thru Nature's Wonderland and the tunnel is above the pond. A trestle took the trains over the river. A few buttes at Big Thunder Ranch are the originals from Nature's Wonderland. I believe the train in the above photo has been removed and stored somewhere.

The abandoned Aladdin's Oasis was once the Tahitian Terrace.

Motor Boat Cruise dock is now a smoking area.

For that matter, there's almost the entire cast of America Sings in Splash Mountain.

Plus the "phantom fish" jumping in the pond.

The rockwork at the entrance to Big Thunder Ranch is part of the old Living Desert.

Is there still a keelboat or am I thinking of Paris?

The chain that blocks California Screamin's wheelchair exit has the old Disney's California Adventure logo hanging from it.

There's a new Keelboat on DLR's ROA that pays homage to the old boats - maybe that's what you were thinking of?

Where is that located at? I'am going in 2 1/2 weeks, I've been to DLR every year since the 70s and I still don't know where it is.

                                  Thanks,

Yes, it's docked by the burning cabin on the island, isn't it?

Unfortunately they removed the Mine Train during the last big refurb of the ROA.

The arch from MTTNW is still standing at Big Thunder Ranch:

The stairs to nowhere at the Autopia Winner's Circle in Tomorrowland was used for access to the old Tomorrowland Skyway station. The Autopia queue also plays old PeopleMover music. The area loops in Tomorrowland also play old music sometimes, like Magic Journeys in the Space Mountain concourse. Even though Star Tours was updated, a lot of C3PO's dialogue on the first room is the same as the old version of the ride. The ride film where you go into the Death Star's interior has the Mighty Microscope from Adventure Thru Innerspace tucked away in the corner before entering the launch bay. The old Star Tours also had the microscope in the maintenance bay of that ride film. G24T and G29T (the G2 droids) were geese from America Sings. The checkout counters in Store Command are made from old PeopleMover cars.

Over in Critter Country, if you ride Splash Mountain, you'll hear snoring as you pass Brer Bear's house just before the first drop. That snoring is actually from the '70s when the land was Bear Country. The snoring belonged to Rufus of the Country Bears. Max, Buff, and Melvin (who appeared in the Country Bears) are hidden in the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. While Splash Mountain opened in 1989, the animatronics are from the '70s as they were relocated and recast from America Sings, which closed in 1987.
