  • [Question] cars land/WOC fast pass advice and question

Hi there I have another question i need help with regarding my upcoming visit. While i try to make it to the parks at least 2 times a year this will be the 1st trip since cars land has opened so I need a little help.

I have read multiple times that the best plan to get on radiator springs racers is to hustle at the rope drop and get in line as well as having someone in your party also get fast passes for a second trip. This seems to make sense but it leaves me wondering a thing or two.

My 1st question is what is the best route to the fast pass machines? I understand that they are by a bugs life theater but i honestly do NOT remember where those are located as it has never been something i have had to use in the past. Also, what is the most sensible route directly to the ride itself is it by the blue cellar or elsewhere?

Lastly I would also like some input as to what the suggestion is as far as getting world of color fast passes for the same day? I am not sure whether or not to do the prepacked lunch deal to get world of color passes of try to get fast passes. If we are in line for RSR will there be fast passes left for WOC afterwards?

We will be there on a thursday.

    thanks again!

The RSR FPs Kiosks are near It's Tough to Be a Bug, but that doesn't matter. During Rope Drop a line to these machines is started near the Carthay Theatre and goes into Hollywood Land. There are signs and CMs directing you to it.

To the ride yes enter across from the Blue Sky Wine Cellar and down Route 66, staying right, the crowd will be going with you so its fairly intuitive as you do it.

For WoC FPs they last into the early afternoon at least so no rush to get them.

This is certainly one way to handle it. However, the line for fast passes can get nearly as long as the line for the ride itself. So, the person getting the fastpasses might not be able to catch up to the rest of the party before they load.

Another way to handle it is to all go get in the standby line at rope drop and ride together. Then, for a second trip, go single-rider. The SR line is usually a lot shorter than the standby line. Also, I've had a friend SR Racers with her son, and they end up racing each other.

My question to you: are you staying on resort? If so, you get in to the park an hour earlier, and that can potentially change the way you do things. (The FP machines don't open until the park does, so you could end up having someone in line for an hour waiting, when you could have all gotten on the ride already.)

My daughter and I are going to be at Disneyland the middle of September. The crowd levels are expected to drop of course as the school year gets underway following Labor Day. Do you think that will impact RSR rider levels as well, or will the "new-ness" keep the crowds going just as strong.

Also, where are the FP machines for WOC? Thanks.

Re: cars land/WOC fast pass advice and question

Just came back from an 8 day stay at DLR. Stayed at PPH and GCH so we were able to take full advantage of Magic Mornings, getting in the parks at 7am.

First time, I went through the Grand Californian entrance and then directly on the FP line at 7am to get the family fast passes for RSR. The ride was not open yet which got groans from everyone on line at the entrance. The fast passes don't start until 8am, so I bit the bullet and waited. I was the 14th person in line, and my family went and enjoyed about 6-7 rides before 8 am. At 8am, I got a FP that said 9:05 to 10:05 am. Meanwhile , RSR opened around 7:30 am. When it was time for our FP, we only had to wait about ten minutes to get on the ride.

Another time, my wife went over to get FP's at 8:30am after the initial rush was over. She only waited about ten minutes for a FP and our return time was 11:05am to 12:05pm.

One time we went over to the ride at 10PM and the stand by line said "95 minutes". We got on the ride in 90 minutes, and the ride is infinitely better at night !!!! I did ask several cast members if they are strictly enforcing the return time windows for FP and I was told by each one that they are no longer telling people the fast passes 'expired'. This was my experience and I would like to know what others have experienced.

When the Fastpasses for RSR run out, do they just stop additional people from getting in line for them, or do they also turn away all of the people who have already been waiting in line for a fastpass?

The WoC FP machines are at Grizzly River Rapids FP distribution. They share part of the FP kiosks for WoC. You will find signs and CMs there to help you.

RSR even in low season will be the ride to go to. Perhaps until another huge attraction is built. Of course there will be far fewer people so the waits will decrease and the FPs distrbution time will extend. If the line is now 200 minutes and the FPs are distributed in 1.5 hours. Expect the line to be 100 minutes and FPs to last 3 hours. Those are just numbers, not fact based estimates. What will happen is the wait will go down and still be the longest in the resort, so FPs will still go fast. If every ride has a 20 minute wait at max except the 60 minute RSR wait, everyone will get a FP instead.

Also the intial build up of waits will slow down including for the FPs. There will not be as many people in the morning coming from onsite and offsite hotels to EMH and Rope Drop.

I'm not positive because I've always got in the FP line by 8:45 and got a FP, likewise with Star Tours last Summer. From what I've heard is they run out when they run out and if you are in line you are out of luck.

I've done standby in 90, 75, 45, and 30 minutes. My whole strategy was to get in the line to ride twice in a day if it was under 90 minutes.

The problem is the wait times for RSR don't exactly indicate how popular it is. They have been so affected by closures and delayed openings. When I caught it at 30 minutes, it had been closed, they emptied the queue during that closure, I was walking down Route 66 right when it reopened. It was just luck to get those low waits.

When I was in line for a FP in June, they were warning people at a certain break point in the line that there was a chance that the FP may be gone by the time they reached the FP machine.

Since so many people get FPs for a group at this attraction, there is no way to tell when they will run out.

Also, they do estimate how long the line to get FPs is, but it's questionable in the accuracy. We just got back from a trip last week, and I waited 45 minutes or so to get Fastpasses. I got in line a little after 8, and the line stretched all the way around the corner at the Carthay, and down to the Hyperion.
