  • [Question] Best Hotel/motel to stay at.

I am planning to go to the DLR in January of next year, and am in need of some suggestions of a hotel/ motel to stay at. I'm looking for something cheap and clean since we are only going to be sleeping and showering there.

I have heard that the motel 6 is okay, but I've also read terrible reviews, so I wanted to get the opinions of the people who know the most

It sounds like you want really cheap and don't mind a long walk.

You may want to priceline a hotel down harbor. 4 stars for $50-$60.

Nearby I'd also look at in this order.
    Anaheim Plaza Inn
    Desert Inn and Suites
    Super 8 Katella
    Quality Inn on Manchester

The first two are very close but can have great rates.

Our last 2 trips we stayed at the Super 8 on Katella. We are going again on Sunday and planning to stay there again as well. It is cheap and basic, but clean and not to far of a walk. We have stayed at others that are a little nicer and a little closer, but we prefer to have extra money for the parks.

We are only paying 221 after tax for 3 nights this trip, which is a little higher than we normally pay....but since it is August and peak time its a little higher. Free parking and free internet and only about a 10 min walk for us to the park. We also like that we get to walk by the 7-11 on the way to get a Red Bull to start our day

I've stayed many times at the Carousel Inn and Suites and never been disappointed. Pool is on the roof and you can watch the fireworks from there if you'd like. The front of the hotel, floor 5, I believe, is the breakfast room. Free, of course. And not bad choices for it being free. Also, an AMAZING view of Disneyland from there!
The rooms have hard wood floors (no dirty carpeting) and real wood shutters on the front window. Also, if you stay in the main building, above the 1st floor, you have a pretty great view of Tower of Terror and, I'm sure, Carsland.

And I'm not sure if it's still going on, but MiceAge/MiceChat had a smokin' deal with the Carousel.

Honestly, any of the hotels on Harbor across the street are fine. I've stayed in 4-5 different ones and never had a problem. Kayak.com is great for deals. I've named my own price on Priceline.com and ended up at the convention center Hilton for $50/night.

How about medium priced / close distance accommodations that allow you to keep your car in their parking lot (10 AM - 8 PM park hours) on only 1 night's stay, i.e. stay Tue night, check out Wed and do the parks on Wed..

Re: Best Hotel/motel to stay at.

I live in San Diego, and usually stay at the Super 8. We drive up, get to Anaheim before noon, and if a room is available, check in. (Official check in time is 2 or 3, but a vacant room may have been cleaned and available before then.) If no rooms are available, we let them know we've arrived, so they don't give our reserved room away. We park in their lot, take a 10-15 minute walk, and spend the first day of our 2-day hopper at the parks. When done for the night at the parks, we walk back, check in (if necessary), and park the car closer to the room. Basically, we only use the room for sleeping and showering. They do have a free continental breakfast, or on the NE corner of Katella & Harbor, there are several fast food places to get food on our 2nd walk to the parks. They do let you keep your car there for the rest of the day.

We always stay at the Howard Johnson on Harbor. Right across the street from Matterhorn. Great place to stay!

Theres a best western on Harbor directly across the street. You just cross the crosswalk and BAM! your there.

I think it was the Best Western Anaheim Inn, but it could've been the Best Western Park Place Inn. Both are actually quite close together.

                      Anaheim Plaza

We almost always end up staying at the anaheim plaza... i shop around on kayak and the plaza seems to be the best deal. The rooms are large and some even have patios. I have never had a problem leaving my car in the parking lot and going to disneyland after checkout and even before check in. it is a short walk to the park. We stay at the plaza 8 x per year on our disney trips

Re: Best Hotel/motel to stay at.

In my experience, they are not all fancy and flashy, but I've never had a really bad experience in any right there by the park.
My favorite, though, has been the Camalot Inn, right across the street on Harbor Blvd. SLightly more pricy, great location, clean. Would love to go back, but honestly, my last several trips I've gone for savings.
Also to keep in mind. If you have a hotel/motel further down on Harbor, but it's right by the Toy Story lot, you can walk to the lot and catch a bus to the park and back. So you don't have to be right on top of the resort to still be walking distance.

If I was to say medium price that lets you car stay in the lot midweek, it would be almost anyplace unless it's a Holiday period.

Generally for a midrange price, Ramada Maingate, Hojo with a discount, Carousel Inn with the MC discount are often nicer locations that the list I put in the 2nd post and all close to the gates.

I always stay at the Ramada Plaza Hotel Anaheim. It is on Katella at Harbor Blvd. They have comfortable beds and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is an ART shuttle stop out front of the hotel but I usually just walk to the parks.

I've stayed at several places and have found a favorite with the Comfort Inn on Katella. Not much of a walk from the park and the place is extremely clean. I have stayed at Super 8, Travelodge, and Comfort Inn, all of which I used to like but the last trips we made to those places, we ended up with several bites from bed bugs. It was disgusting and I'll never go back to any of them.

We stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Inn last week and loved it. $116 a night AAA rate. Clean, safe and very close to the park.

I am a big fan of the Anaheim Plaza Inn for the cleanliness, friendly staff and proximity to the Park Entrance. The walk back to the room each day isn't terrible and even making a trek there part way through for some respite from the crowds is nice. Cost ranges from approximately $70-90 depending on the size room. The bigger rooms are a great investment! You get enough space to spread stuff out, a LARGE double sink area and separate bathtub/toilet space.

The only issue I have ever had there was a Saturday evening wedding reception. The bass was up and the music was loud, and not that great. Only lasted until 10:30pm and was completely tolerable. Just wish their music selection had been a lot better!

Just FYI: the Best Western Park Place Inn and Mini Suites is directly across the street from the Harbor DLR entrance. The Anaheim Plaza Inn is down the street across from the Harbor entrance to the parking area.

My wife and I just booked our trip yesterday and after lots of research chose the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. We stayed there for 13 nights on our honeymoon and found it to be the perfect home base. The restaurant hours are a joke, but luckily there is a good restaurant next door (it feels like part of the parking lot.) Clean. Nice bed (crap pillows.) And very close to the park. Close enough to have no problem walking back to the hotel for a mid-day shower when it was pushing 100 degrees.
