  • [Question] What would be the best theme for a Wing Coaster at Disneyland?

If you have not already noticed Wing Coasters are the newest and most popular type of roller coaster, there are currently less than 10 in the world. I think it is time for the Disneyland resort to get one of their own, but the question is what would the theme be?

I would like to suggest: Tinker Bell "Secret of the Wings"

Imagine soaring over Pixie Hollow in the middle of winter just like in the new movie! There could also be a giant Pixie Hollow Tree and even the newest location the Mine of the Hills

Disneyland will never get a Wing Coaster. Not their style at all. And it shouldn't be. Leave them to the thrill parks.

I did say Disneyland Resort, meaning it doesn't have to be at Disneyland or DCA, it could even be at the 3rd rumored park. Please have some open-mindedness and not be so glib.

I can maybe see this used, but not taken to the extreme of some of the "thrill" parks. It could be a tame indoor coaster like Space Mountain, but also combine some great dark ride elements as well. I see this taking place in different rooms within the show building so that several completely immersive environments could be created, each one moving the story a little bit further along. The benefit of a coaster is that speed could be controlled by simply changing the angle of the track. If a scene requires more time to view, put an incline right before it to slow the train down. Conversely, if a quick thrill is needed or a sense of escape is relative to the story a drop or acceleration zone could be added.

I would love to see it in Hollywoodland based on the Rockin ride. I saw pictures of it and think it would fit well at DCA in the Hollywood area

This would definitely not belong in Disneyland. It could fit perhaps at DCA, but even that would conflict with the retro change they've made there as well. The only place I see a ride like that fitting is at WDW/Hollywood.

Never thought there'd be a ferris wheel or mouse coaster in a Park.
              Good theme would be BARF.

A ferris wheel is fitting for a 20's era theme. Goofy Sky School was already there before the changes, and I very much expect that to be the first ride to go when the next wave of changes are made.

Probably a Six Flags theme would be best.

                      It could work.

Basically a new coaster at Disney depends on the theming more than the ride vehicles theselves. Once you put something in the dark and are looking out does it really matter what you are sitting on? If Disney want to build a new coaster they will look at capacity of the ride types, and flexibility of the rid design.

CS is a sprawling coaster with a launch to fit the peir theme with a quick ride time.
RRC is a compact coster with a launch to fit inside a building.
EE is a compact coaster with a long lift hill, to fit in the building, but simulate the ride into the peaks.

I don't think a coaster like this feels very Disney, tbh.

Are most of the coasters in Florida very "Disney?" The Aerosmith doesn't seem very Disneyish either but they built it.

I think a small tame wing coaster would be really awesome at Disneyland, give it a Tink theme and maybe incorporate Peter Pan and Hook as well. Make it something kids 40" and up could ride, it'd be very successful.

Those aren't in the Magic Kingdom. The only place those kinds of rides feel appropriate is Hollywood Studios.

You mean we don't want another short Peter Pan ride to wait in line for 45-50min to ride?

If they ever build a third gate, and theme that third gate to the world of Marvel, something like this could certainly work there. Not much of a Marvel fan however so I have no idea what theme they could use.

Say what you will. There's more magic in those 150 seconds than on just about anything you can do anywhere in the park.

I've never been a big Peter Pan buff so I just never saw the appeal of that ride. Line is too long for what you get.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is usually my only stop in Fantasyland.

I agree that the length of the line is ridiculous for the short duration of the actual ride, but I still love it. Flying over the sky of London and soaring through the stars of Neverland never ceases to amaze me.

Don't know where'd it go, but I think a Toy Story would fit great with a winged coaster.

Remember the scene in Toy Story 3, where Woody follows the other toys to Sunnyside, and makes a makeshift hang glider?

I'd love to see the roller coaster be half dark ride, half coaster.

The dark ride portion would start with the events that follow up to the hang glider, the toys making the decision to go to Sunnyside, Woody following them, etc. And then a burst of air blows in your face, a pair of doors open, and you're off, sailing thru the wind in the roller coaster.
                                        Fear of the unknown.

They are afraid of new ideas.

You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.
