  • Monsters, Inc. now part of the normal operating schedule

While they still have not had the official press Grand Opening, Monsters, Inc. is being advertised to guests as "NOW OPEN!".

The Disneyland Guide to the Magic that was released today has that comment in LARGE Yellow letters.

You see this large banner when you enter the west side Security gates.

They have removed the "preview" comment on the ad they had in the middle of the Main Entry Plaza.

Plus on the side of the ticket booths is this.

So except for the morning hours on Monday January 23rd, you should be able to ride Monsters, Inc. (Of course, like any attraction, it could be closed due to mechanical issues)

It should, I will check shortly, I was at the park around 8 AM to get the photos of the Price Increase, and they had the Disneyland Maps out.

It was too early for DCA.

Did anyone else notice that Disney has gone away from their usual term "Attraction" for use of the industry-standard "Ride"? On the new sign it says "All-New Ride"....isn't this a bit strange? Especially since as Disney CM's and fans we are trained from birth NEVER to say "ride"? Just a thought, maybe I'm just over-analyzing - it wouldn't be the first time

Have they begun giving away VMK monster's In Door Teleporter cards yet with riding it?

The new DCA Guide to the Magic maps have Sulley and Boo on the front cover, and twice inside it says "NOW OPEN!" in regards to the ride.

It happens to be the first attraction listed on the map itself, where you will find one of the two "NOW OPEN!" comments.

Hey good question! I will try and get to the park soon to find out. I hope we wont have to ask for them like at some places (ie stores.)

Re: Monsters, Inc. now part of the normal operating schedule

I went on it last night. That ride is great fun. I really enjoyed the little monsters touches to the ssl que. That safty list on the tickets booth was really funny. So were the vending machines. "Bag o' Calories". The ride seems longer than the old version and the rooms feel smaller. The door room was very cool.

While waiting in line we talked to some people that have been to DCA before, they said they didn't know this section of the park existed. They were impressed with the big watertower. I think its interesting how they put up a wall in front of Hollywood and Dine and removed the sign. It would be great if they walled in a path from the drive in building to the H&D building for a Sci-fi drive in restraunt.

I thought the same thing as well plus would tie in Monsters... Sci-fi and all. Do we need another eating establishment? I dunno, would be cool I guess. Never got the chance to go to Sci-Fi dine in while at MGM.

Heck - they already have the menu for Harry Hausens all written out in the queue for the attraction... why not make Hollywood & Dine - Harry Hausens? It would be great and they could come up with some creative entrees with the names on the Harry Hausens menu - "Terrible Teriyaki" can easily be some delicious teriyaki chicken! the Swill & Sour soup can be some hot and tasty Hot & Sour Soup. and all of the assorted sushi rolls can be common options like Vegetarian Rolls, or California Rolls, etc etc. It's at least worth a try. If the sushi and asian-style cuisine doesnt work out then they can always change it back to something more practical.

The reason Hollywood & Dine never had customers wasn't because its location was entirely bad - it was because there just wasn't anything for people to go back there for. With Monsters Inc right there now and Tower of Terror right down the street ... a new restaurant with some unique eats would be perfect. Make it themed to the restaurant in Monsters Inc and I think you've got a hit!

Hey - Darkbeer ... Did they ever get around to changing the facade on the map to reflect the new Monsters facade? Last I saw it was still the Superstar Limo facade on the map.
