  • [Fun] Little Disney things that just make your life magical. :)

    Anyone have any notable experiences?

My 5-year old cousin's dad is part of the media, and subsequently gets invited to the family media events.

At this media event though, there weren't that many families.

In the middle of the event, my cousin went to go meet Pinocchio, who was randomly walking around, due to the lack of people there.

My cousin gets her meet and greet... and more.

Pinocchio ended up playing tag with her for the next half an hour!

These are the type of things that just makes me appreciate how magical Disney can make things.
    Fear of the unknown.

They are afraid of new ideas.

You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.

Well since its not DisneyLAND in particular on my last day at the Magic Kingdom it was fairly crowded but I managed to come up and meet the Mayor of Main Street USA we shook hands and talked for a few minutes, he seemed like the nicest guy in the MK and I was more excited to meet the streetmosphere characters than the actual characters they can connect with you in ways Mickey and Cinderella can't plus you don't have to wait in line for an hour for a stinkin' picutre).

See ya walkin' right down the middle of o'l Main Street USA

I took two of my friends to Disneyland. They haven't been there since their childhood and didn't really care much for that Disney magic as much as they did. They did have fun during the day but at night was when it happened. I asked them if they ever heard of Fantasmic, they never heard of it, so of course I had to let them see it by nights end. We were lucky enough to get a close viewing area even though we were late. As soon as the Peter Pan sequence started they were in disbelief and awestruck at what they were witnessing.

They were crying their eyes out as they saw peter and captain hook fighting on top of the Columbia. The real hitter was when they saw the princesses and of course their jaws dropped when they saw the Dragon.

After the show we headed towards Space Mountain. All they could talk about was how much they missed out on their childhood and wanted to watch disney movies when they got back home. Fortunatly the fireworks were about to start so the same results happened as they did in Fantasmic. We finally headed towards Space Mountain and while in line other guests were wondering why my friends were crying.

I think that I may have shared this before, but one stay at the Disneyland Hotel was especially magical.

I was down in Anaheim to take the Bar at the Convention Center. I booked a room in the Disneyland Hotel for the special occasion. When booking, I was asked if I wanted a standard view of the parking lot, or a view of the pool or Downtown Disney. I told the perosn on the reservation line that I wanted a view of Downtown Disney so I could stand on the balcony and take in the sights of people going by and decompress after 6 hours of testing each day. When they read back my confirmation, they stated that I was reserved for four days with a Downtown Disney view.

When I checked in, they gave me a pool view room. When I questioned them, they said what I had reserved was an upgraded view of either the pool or Downtown Disney. I explained to the girl at the desk exactly what I outlined above including my reasons for wanting the particular view. She checked to see if there was another room available, which there wasn't until the next night, but told me that if I didn't mind moving rooms later, I could take my luggage down to the baggage check desk just outside the hotel lobby first thing in the morning and by the time I came back from my first day of testing, it would be waiting for me in my new room. Sure enough, it was and the rest of the trip went smoothly (aside from the earthquake during the first morning session of the exam ).

It was really nice that she went out of her way to make sure that I got the view that I wanted and with as little inconvenience as possible.

In line for Luigi's Flying Tires a CM (going to a break or something) walked up and asked me something about a pin I had and we ended up chatting while I was in line for about 25 minutes about some of the "behind the scenes" stuff about the Tires, which eventually turned into a conversation about what we would do if we were the head of Disneyland and had an infinite amount of money. I think the most magical thing at Disneyland is CMs that love their job and do everything they can to make your day awesome.

I dressed as a pirate for Mickey's Halloween Party last year. As part of my costume, I wore boots with heals. I thought if I added some gel inserts, I would be fine -- but they ended up pinching my toes. I had brought those Mr. Schols portable flats, but I hadn't taken them for a test drive. After walking back and forth across the park, my feet were killing me! I swapped
my boots out for those little rubber flats, but found they didn't stay on my feet! I was really regretting my choice in footwear at this point.

I headed down to Main Street, looking for a pair of Mickey FitFlops. I knew the stores would be closed as part of the event, but I was really hoping beyond hope one might be open.

That was when a CM, a lead, approached me and asked if I needed help (perhaps he could see my pained expression each time I took a step, or my forlorned expression as I peered through the windows of the shuttered Emporium).

I told him about my predicament, and he gladly opened the door and let me in. Once I picked out my fitflops, he walked me through the stores until we found a cashier to ring me up.

That act of kindness really stuck with me :-)

It's something as simple as characters in a parade making eye contact with my children and smiling and waving to them! Also one time at the Reindeer Roundup, my daughter was talking to Mrs. Claus and when it was time to take a picture, Mrs. Claus took my daughters hand and said "we need to find a beautiful background for this photo", and proceeded to walk around the roundup area until she found a perfect spot for the picture. I cherish the photo I took of them from behind, holding hands and chatting. That was magical for me.
              Well Gawrsh!

I think every little girl is called Princess by a cast member, but when a CM calls my daughter that, it feels like it's just for her. My daughter smiles and beams at being called Princess.
I am old. But still love Disneyland.

I've shared this before but it still is so special to me. When my daughter, now 12 was 5 yrs old she got hearing aids and we were told she was going deaf. Well, we went to disneyland and she only had her hearing aids for about five weeks and was really shy about them. she was also learning sign language. We walked into the turnstile and there was cinderella, we just had to see her. We waited in line and when we got up front a boy kept pushing in front of my daughter. cinderlla seeing this stepped in front of the boy and crouched down to my daughter's hight and must have seen the hearing aids cause she started signing to her. My daughter was so amazed the Cinderella knew sign language.I started crying like a baby. That was a turning point in my daughter's life and a VERY MAGICAL MOMENT.

OK, another magical moment. We went to DL for my son's 18th birthday and his garduation. We were on the sidelines watching the celebrate parade and the dancers saw my son's ( who is a major Disney geek) pins for birthday and graduation and pulled him into the parade. He was beeming. We were right next to the Mickey's float and mickey Mouse gave my son a thumbs up. He had the absolute best birthday ever. BTW his birthday is July 4th so it takes alot to top it and disney sure does.

Re: Little Disney things that just make your life magical.

Last year at Mickey's Halloween Party, my DS was dressed as Tuxedo Mickey. As we were walking to one trick or treat station, a pair of CMs walked by and one said, "Hey, it's the boss!!" and the other said, "How are you doing, Mickey?" DS was just thrilled.

I have also had two blog readers separately report that they had exemplary experiences at Turtle Talk with Crush. One child was crying because she had a "really important question" and she hadn't been chosen to answer. Her mom (my blog reader) was leading her away and explaining that Crush can't call on everyone and they could come back another time and try again. The CM stopped them, and when the theater was empty, he called Crush back out to have a one on one conversation with the little girl. Another reader described the same experience, except in her case her son was upset because it was his birthday and he had wanted to tell Crush it was his birthday. Again, the CM brought Crush out for a personal birthday wish. Talk about magical moments for those little ones.

See, that's just it! These wonderful magical moments can happen no where else. Only Disney 'gets' that the magic & personal touch is the most important thing about the experience, whether the guest is a child or an adult. Any park can & does have rides. Only Disney makes us truly a part of the 'capital M' Magic. Disney 'gets' that these moments will be carried in our hearts forever.

One of my many moments; my youngest son was always terribly shy (even of Santa), yet would bound up to any & all of the characters we would see, give big hugs and just jabber away. When I asked him once why he was so shy around others & not the characters he replied "Mom, those are people, these are my 'Disney Friends!'.
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
