  • [Idea] A new Tomorrow Land

Like I said in my previous thread I was in the park today and I was standing in line for Space Mountain and I was thinking how tomorrow land could be better. We all know that tomorrow land needs a makeover in some sort. These are just my opinions how tomorrow land could be better.

The Entrance: Relocate Astro Oribitor to the back end of tomorrow land. The entrance could be what the future could really be like. You will see a digitial sign that says tomorrow land.

The Subs: It would be something new than the finding nemo that we have now (most likely another pixar movie). It would have a indoor queue explaning the backstory of the ride.

Autopia: It survives the renovation of tomorrow land because of the new electric cars they would be using. There will be no more of the cars you see today at autopia. But of course the track would be cut in half due to a new ride in back of it. And the queue would have to be redone.

Stars Tours: Will stay the same because of the 2011 renovation.

Magic Eye Theatre: The theatre would be demolished and it will become a new dining restraunt or possibly move pizza port in that area.

Starcade: Starcade will also survive the expansion. The bottom level would be a exhibit showing all of the new future gadets they will have. And the top floor will be open again. They will be new state of the art games on the top floor. No more acarde games.

Space Mountain: A new queue similiar of the one they had when space mountain oringaly opened in 1977. But the ride would stay the same do to the 2005 renovation.

Interventions.: Demolished becomes a new dark ride set to Tron.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters/People Mover Tracks: Astro Blaster would close to make way for a queue to the new rocket rods 2.0. The people mover track would be removed with a new track just in time for rockets rods 2.0. It would fix all of the past problems that rocket rods oringally had. This ride would have fastpass or possibily NEXTGEN.

New Avenger Ride: The Avengers ride would be a rollercoaster that is directly behind the subs and autopia. This ride would also have fastpass or NEXTGEN

I hope you guys like the ideas I said. I will say this again these are my own opinions.

First off, let me just compliment you and say your ideas are very creative. However, one thing in particular stands out.

Please, no more Play Doh Port. We need a place there that serves good pizza. I feel that is something that is sorely lacking in the park.

I like the idea of a Tron themed dark ride. That would really be something cool.

I think that we may see some HUGE changes to Tomorrowland in the next few years. I think that we could see half of the land (or more) closed while they renovate/expand/add new stuff. Only Space Mountain and Star Tours are safe IMO.

Agreed tomorrow land needs a major overhaul, it the type of land that always is supposed to have a fun futuristic feel to it, and always being updated, but the land it self feels stuck in the early 90's with old facades and out of date attractions. Star Tours, and Space Mountain are the only safe rides for sure. I hope the Imaginer team has there laser set to phase.

lol so true, that pizza and the old dirty building that it is currently in is so gross imo. If they want to build a new restaurant can they at least build a brand new facility with better air filtration.

What is the big deal about the PeopleMover? It's outdated and doesn't do anything special. I wouldn't wait in line to ride in a circle around Tomorrowland. You can ride the Disneyland Railroad and go in a circle around the entire park.

I'd love to see the type of food at the Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta in CA Adventure brought over to Tomorrowland. That pizza and pasta, is exquisite, so much better than the tasteless pizza Disneyland has.

On the Magic Eye Theater, I'd love to see it refurbished on the inside, to create a laser light show on the inside, based on Buzz.

What does thee avengers have to do with Space, future, or anything even remotely close to Tomorrowland? Sure, Ironman has a pretty cool suit, but other than that I can't see it fitting in Tomorrowland.

All the futuristic technology from Ironman's suit to flying aircraft carriers. Let's not forget wormholes, teleportation and space aliens.

                          Re: A new Tomorrow Land

I really like the idea of moving AO and putting a restaurant back in space of Magic Eye theater (it was originally a restaurant after all). I also like the idea of a return of RR/ people mover type ride. Rocket Rods as an idea was not bad. A high speed futuristic transport through a futuristic city really made a lot of sense and was very futuristic. Today's societ is obsessed with getting from here to there as fast as humanely possible (and there is no sign of that mind set changing). The people mover was built in a time where the journey was part of the fun (see Cars for reference). It only makes sense that a high speed transport would be the future that this generation enjoyed. However, Rocket Rods was doomed by budget cutting. The cars were awkward, the loading slow, the lack of banking crippled the high speed aspect of the ride, and the untrustworthy ride system caused long closures and even longer lines (seriously the queue barely fit in the huge building that now houses BLAB).

A form of high speed transport over Tomorrowland is a very good idea and would add the layer that Tomorrowland has lacked since the closure of RR. However, the ride would have to take a very different route, have way more emergency exits, and somehow figure out a better loading/ unloading to increase capacity exponentially. Also using an entire building for a queue is a bad idea for a park that lacks available land. Any new high speed ride would need to be very different from RR.

Personally I think Tomorrowland needs more place making improvements than it actually needs attractions. As it currently sits the land doesn't know whether it's DLP's Discoveryland, Disneyland's 1967 Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, or Magic Kingdom's Sci-fi City Tomorrowland. The whole land needs a complete refresh. Lose the Sci-fi city style murals on Star Tours and BLAB, lose the Discoverland style AO asthetics, lose the Fantasyland style feel of FNSV (maybe add an exploration style queue/ station), and lose Captain EO's 1980's Sci-fi feel. Either get back to the roots of Tomorrowland (futuristic science/ knowledge based land) or move towards a futuristic community that's emphasis is on exploration and adventure. Simple things like giving Star Tours a realistic Space terminal facade, giving BLAB's building a false faced that makes it look like futuristic stores/ businesses/ homes, giving autopia a car dealership feel promoting the car of the future, adding exploration queue to Finding Nemo, replacing the stucco faccade of Startrader/ Starcade with a more elaborate less 1980's style facade/ maybe even a knew name for the star trader would all go a long way in increasing the appeal of Tomorrowland.

Please keep Marvel out of Disneyland. That's all I'm sayin. Great idea though for a completely separate park.

The inclusion of Marvel depends on how long Disney has the rights to the characters. If there is a contract out there that will keep Disney and Marvel together until 2035 then I wouldn't be surprised to see a superhero themed something in the future. Disney Stores are already full of merchandise for The Avengers. My local Disney Store has an entire section for superheroes.

Didn't Disney purchase Marvel... I don't think a contract is necessary if you own the company.

You're onto something. VW recently announced a hovercraft car that they're making for production for a Chinese market due to the demand of needing something that can pass over wetlands as well as roads. It's not far off. Still, with Luigi's Tires in DCA being a revamp of Tomorrowland's old flying saucers ride I'm not sure if it would be seen as "more of the same." ( Not that "more of the same" ever stopped a half dozen other attractions from all being rehashes of the same technology, 4d theaters, etc. )
