[Fun] What's the one update/refurb/overhaul you wish they'd take back?

For the most part I am not bothered by the various small attraction updates/refurb that take place... but there are a few that really make me wish I could turn back the clock:

1. I really miss the Swiss Family Treehouse. Really miss it. SO MUCH! I think updating this to the Tarzan Treehouse was one of those updates that only pays off in the short term... it's not like there are lines snaking through Adventure Land for the current version. The original Swiss Family version just had so much charm and I used to love to take my time admiring all of the wonderful detail. I also loved the organ music from the film! If I could bring back ONE thing, I would bring back the original Swiss Family Treehouse. For now I have to settle for staring lovingly at the attraction poster that hangs on my wall.

2. People Mover! I loved this ride so much as a kid. I was always way too scared to actually go on Space Mountain, so getting to take a little peak at it via the People Mover made me feel like I wasn't completely missing out. I also really loved the soundtrack. When they shut this ride down to bring in the Rocket Rods I think I literally cried a little.

3. I also miss Bear Country Jamboree! I know this wasn't a huge draw and seemed like a big waste of space, but for the sake of nostalgia I would rather have Bear Country Jamboree than Pooh.

i still miss 20,000 leagues under the sea. The original. I'm glad I got to ride and experience over at WDW but I wish I could have experienced the "original" ride.

I got over the treehouse thing a while back. I don't think I'd feel much different about if it were still Swiss Family. I enjoy the tree, and my son loves it. That's enough for me.

I do though kind of wish they would undo the Pirates Lair theme to Tom Sawyers Island. It seems more...personal. It was more invasive. That island was special to Walt.

I don't much care for the inclusion of Jack Sparrow to POTC either. I guess I'm ok with it, but I do wish it were as it was.

I'd like a more traditional summer parade. These recent parades that focus on being hip and have really lost the plot for me. I want to see some characters dancing, a band playing, and princesses waving. I don't need a drumline, hip-hop dancers or avant-garde costumes.

Oh man, I totally agree with you about the parades! I really miss the character heavy/driven parades over the newer ones...

I totally admit that my opinions on Swiss Family Treehouse stem from my childhood memories and that sense of nostalgia. I think if I had kids now they would probably enjoy the current version just as much as I enjoyed the old one.

I'd like to see POTC back to the original "pre Jack Sparrow" era. It was perfect, ... they messed it up, but I tolerate the new version... it still has enough originality to hold me faithful!!

I REALLY miss the Mark V monorail . That was THE symbol of Disneyland throughout my childhood, and I'm really sad it's gone/redone.

Yeah - the Tomorrowland makeover reminds me of the Lion King for some reason... something about the new entrance/pride rock! I also really miss seeing the old Rocket Jets spinning high up in the air (even though that ride terrified me!)

Original Submarine Voyage for whole ride, the Constance character/tech and attic scene change for HM for just one portion of a ride. Constance is dreadfully stupid, badly realized, and poorly executed/not menacing or amusing.

1. Country Bear Playhouse

That's the attraction I miss the most. I'm 24, so i'm at the age where I grew up with the Vacation Hoedown, not the original show. "California Bears"...."Ghost Riders in the Sky".....and the amazing "Thank God I'm a Country Bear" finale....loved every minute of it.

2. The Disney Gallery

Get the Dream Suite out of there, and put the gallery back where it was! The view was spectacular, and it was so interesting to think that Walt could have lived there. I loved the little courtyard in the middle. What a neat area!

3. POTC Jack Sparrow Refurb

I will always love Pirates of the Caribbean, but the movie-based enhancements should not be there. No Jack Sparrow. No Barbossa. No Blackbeard in Fog. No Davy Jones in Fog. No movie music. Nothing related to the movie franchise. Pirates of the Caribbean was an original idea. I think the Disneyland original should sever all ties with the movies of the same name.

Those are my 3 for the DL resort. But I do want to mention my opinion on the #1 overhaul I wish they could take back, and it's not in the DL resort.

Journey Into Imagination.

Bar none. The. Worst. Overhaul. Tony Baxter's E-Ticket was amazing and awe-inspiring. From ages 2 1/2 to 11, I was captivated by the attraction, and especially the character of Figment.

Now it's a mess, and Figment is completely different.

Anyway, had to throw that out.

People Mover first!!!!! A true classic that is sorely missed. Everything about this ride was awesome.

Please don't hurt me for this, since I know it's a very unpopular view, but fireworks that don't require big sections of Disneyland to be shut down. The new firework shows are really good, but too much of a good thing...

Classic subs! I loved that quirky ride. It was an adventure that I went on, and not just watched someone else's adventure on a tv screen.

Also, an empty building instead of Innoventions.

I also agree with most of what was mentioned already, such as Swiss Treehouse, Country Bears.

I miss Country Bears. I have an old Disneyland VHS tape that has an excerpt from that show on it. I love it.

Kirk Wall, lead singer. He also said originally that summer's end would also be the end of the run at the Big Thunder Ranch and they'd go back to the GHS. I'd guess management had a change of mind. The Billies aren't complaning.
